I am currently typing up my Letters, however, Since we have moved house, we cannot find any of our old bank statements anywhere. Luckily I found all my debt letter from when I had paid alot of them off, which has account details from the various banks. However, I am looking for some wording to go in place in the template if anyone can help out, to make it sound a bit better that would be great.

I don't want to go overboard, but I am not even sure how much I have been charged by each bank, but I have been with 4 banks in the last 6 years, and with 3 of them, there has been hundreds of pounds worth of charges each. However, if I go in and say an amount lower or higher than what it is, will this not make me look as if I dont know what I am talking about?

How have other people tackled this?

Hi Colin,

Rather than guessing an amount, you would be much better off requesting all relevant information from the banks using the DPA letter template (in the library). This way you will have information about every charge, and also information regarding manual intervention, if it occurred.

This is obviously going to take a little longer, but it will put you in a much stronger position.

As you have moved house, you may be asked to confirm your ID, and it would be easier for your claim if you did this early on. Any branch should be able to take a certified photocopy of a driving licence, or similar, for their internal use.

Good luck.
