Hello.

My wife has debts that were originally with Egg and are now being chased by Marlin.

She's been paying £20 p.m. and we've had a letter saying the account is up for review and to fill in an income/expenditure form.

I don't know whether or not to do this.

I've read on here to just write and say I can only afford £x p.m.

but is that asking for them to get awkward?

Could they issue a Statutory Demand for example?

IF nothing has changed, respond saying you can still pay £20 a month.

No obligation to fill anything else in...+

We could do with some help from you.

Stick to your guns - only pay what you can afford - you tell them the amount not the other way round. As DX requests more info would be useful.

No, but I'll get onto it.

tell us a bit more about these EGG debts.

First is £6938.52 ,Creditor Marlin Capital Europe Ltd , Barclaycard, originally Egg Credit Card.

Second£9222.21 Marlin Europe III Ltd, Original creditor Britannica Recoveries - Egg Personal Loan

are they on her credit file?

I'll get her to look.

She hasn't worked for nearly five years due to health and I am only very part time employed.

She's been on half pay in that time, but that will stop in a couple of months so we really won't be able to pay any more, if fact probably less!

dx

Thank for your input.

We've been paying the £20 for five years as far as I know since she stopped work and thus stopped paying the full amount to Egg. I seem to recall speaking to them and arranging this. We've been happy to do it as it is "showing willing", and apart from anything else, we do want to repay our debts. We've been hoping that my wife can get back to her reasonably paid job but unfortunately while she's got over the original illness she has developed other conditions.

As for Egg selling on £15000 debts, isn't that what they do when people have defaulted, so that at least they get a percentage plus don't have the hassle of chasing?

what is your credit file showing? endless arrangement to pay? cld end up worse than a default, if future credit is of any import.

you may be willing, but if you're entitled to things back...why not check?

they do sell on, sometimes regardless
