A lady phoned saying she was from Dorchester Post Office in Dorset and would we like to advertise on the screen there. In due course a rep called and we signed a contract and wrote a cheque for £468 deposit. Overnight though we decided it did not seem right and phoned the rep first thing in the morning who said he would cancel the contract and find another business.

We thought that would be it. However we had a threatening letter a few weeks later and spoke to Dorset Trading Standards who said it was a good thing we had cancelled the cheque as it would be hard getting money back from that kind of company. We think they might be taking a further look at the company and said we need to show them any further letters and other communications we receive from the Community Network.

We were most shocked by the way Community Network telemarketer implied they were from Dorchester Post Office in the first phone call and then even had a Royal Mail connection when the rep visited us. I believe our experience shows their business model appears to be based on threats and extortion than good customer service. We are waiting for the next instalment from them.

We too have been caught out by The Community Network.

I have commented on another thread but though it would be useful to add a little more here.

I read elsewhere that this Post Office connection happens possibly more often than not in some of the initial cold calling.
