Sadly they might become ever more frequent in spite of or even because of the new Regulations, and the perception of the increased cost. If the bailiff was doing their job correctly, and most do then there is no excuse for the threats.

We could do with some help from you.

In fact at a meeting yesterday it was confirmed that following the implementation of the new regulations (on 6th April) complaints against bailiffs have dropped to the lowest level ever and more debtors then ever are either paying or more commonly; making a payment proposal during the 'compliance stage'.

Also, local authorities are reporting a significant increases in their collection rate after sending the '14 day' letter. This seems to be due to the fact that in their letters all local authorities are now stressing that if the debt is not paid that the account will be referred to a bailiff company and the fees (£75 Compliance fee and £235 Enforcement Fee) will be incurred.

Actual complaints being made to County Courts about the conduct of a bailiff in the past 6 months is also at the lowest level ever.

A very stupid action to have taken and one that may well turn out to be very serious indeed.

Without knowing the background it is difficult to comment further.

Aw shucks Brassnecked I was using you in Fredthereds' thread to point out that we weren't bailiffs masquerading as the good guys and then you go and say that.

Why common assault ?

There must have been loads of situations in the past where EA's were threatened in similar ways and no action has been previously taken. The EA companies are obviously pursuing complaints with the Police more often.

I wonder whether the EA had a video camera recording of their attendence.

We could do with some help from you.

We have to be balanced, as it is equally as serious where a thuggish bailiff assaults a debtor as in R V Tucker 2013. Our job is to advise a best course of action for that particular circumstance, and hitting the bailiff isn't a good idea, unless they are attacking you as in R V Tucker.

We could do with some help from you.

Speaking of threatening bailiffs ,anybody remember Sean James the Repo Man from the Channel 4 Series of the same name?.

He was not happy when a bailiff turned up at the house and was quite happy to make threats against the bailiff, although if you watch the video which Sean himself recorded, he was not happy about the way the bailiff had been towards his mother
