Hello there I wonder if anyone can help with this.

I am considering buying a new car in the next month or so, and

thought I would check out my noddle report before doing so.

I noticed a default on my account in the name of Arvato Financial Solutions LTD T/A Buchanan Clark & Wells.

The date of birth is over 20 years out and I don't remember ever having any dealings with this company.

I logged it on the noddle site as incorrect today, stating that I don't know what it is.

I'm wondering if I should contact this company as well? I have searched for some kind of address for them,

but as I don't know what I'm looking for, I cant find anything.

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

There is some company information in the 2nd post on the link above.

It could be they are acting on behalf of another company. TBH, I am not sure what you should do as it is advised you don't speak to this type of company on the phone. You certainly don't want to be giving them personal details that they might be able to correct their own records with !

I will leave a message for others on the site team to see if they have any ideas.

Thanks for the response,

I had a look on the link,

it appears that this company possibly brought an old debt?

The listing on noddle states account start date in may 2008, then default date is april 2012.

Im wracking my brains to try to think of anything in 2008.

Also surely I would have had some form of communication in 2012 before this company logged the default?

Well I will wait to hear if you guys have any recommendations of what to do now.

Thank again

yes, that is most likely..

I would have thought the original creditor would have defaulted the account much sooner than the date BCW have posted - it would certainly be useful to know when.. BCW can only update the original creditor's placement.

If the account has been sold to this company, then you should have received a Notice of Assignment - would it be worth checking on one of the other CRAs to see if there is anything listed on there ?

As Citizen B has advised check credit files asap.

Do Not be tempted to phone Avarto/BCW.

I would ignore this (keep all letters) until Avarto specify exactly what the alleged debt is for.

Hi CB,

There's no safe quick way of challenging a default once it's in place, checking CRA records should I think at least clarify what the alleged debt is.

BCW and the other companies within the group are intransigent when it comes to problems with credit agency reporting.

Perhaps the OP should e-mail the compliance department at Avarto/BCW not admitting liability of course requesting an explanation for the alleged debt.

Definitely don't phone!

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I cannot see anything further back for any original creditor, only this from arvato/BCW

How do I check the other credit reference agencies, can I do this for free?

Also where would I find en email address for this company? Im concerned about giving them any personal info for them to correct their mistakes.

Also citizen is right, I need to fix this issue within the next month if possible!

Sorry for all the questions, I don't want to deal with this incorrectly.

It would probably be best if you were to either email or write (send recorded delivery) As for a full statement of account - they are recording on your CR file and you have no idea why. As for a full statement of account in order for them to have established the right to record on your file.

If you can take a screen shot of the record on noddle, you could include that as proof that they are.

Noddle (call credit) is free, Experian and Equifax have 30 day free trials.

Contact details for the BCW Group are on its website.

Any correspondence how ever sent must refer to the " alleged" debt and contain the phrase

" I do not acknowledge any debt to Avarto or any company within the BCW Group of companies".

Happy to help!!

Let's see what result the e-mail gets, the " age" mistake seems a little odd.

they have entered a random DoB so they can access your file.

It is a flaw in the access/reporting system.

Noddle allow corporate customers to but access to your files on behalf of other companies

and these comanies are supposed to fill out forms showing your consent to access

or other information that ensures they have the right person.

The false DoB gets them access to your file but with a limited amount of information such as address.

That is all they probably want as they dont have to have a correct one to get on to the system.

The thing I really do not understand is that I received nothing in writing from this company. I sent a letter to them via recorded delivery yesterday, so I am assuming I will hear something in due course. I stated that I did not acknowledge this debt etc etc. I guess its a waiting game now to see what they have to say:sad:

Yes wait and see, but it may not be that Avarto replies there are other companies within this massive group involved in debt collection/purchasing/and tracing services.

Wait and see time.

BCW often treat any complaint as " Formal Complaint" which allows them 56 days to investigate and respond.

I noticed something else when I looked on noddle today.

It states account opening date of 17.5.2008 then default date 16.4.2012.

After careful consideration I think I may know what this is concerning,

but I also know that this was defaulted in 2008.

How can they possibly state a date of 2012?

Is that to confuse the statute barred status?

I am waiting for responses from both BCW who are "investigating this matter and have put the file on hold"

and from Noddle who have apparently contacted BCW as well.

Im suspecting something is very wrong, and this will have to be removed,

but how can something so wrong get on your credit file in the first place?

Surely these companies have to be proving such things before they are allowed to damage a persons credit file?

Sorry, this has annoyed me and I am not a particularly patient person!

IMHO you should have sent a cca request.

then you'd know what the debt was about in one attempt...

so, what is the debt

if you think you know tell us.

noddle should tell you the type of credit too.

Questions on the default date being 2008 not 2012, did you receive a "default notice " for the debt in 2008?

If so did you enter into any form of repayment regime with the creditor or DCA?

I believe this is a provident loan from 2008.

I did make a few early payments, but the genuine reason that I stopped paying was that the agent stopped calling.

This was after a marriage breakdown.

At the end of 2008 my current partner moved in with us, and in all honesty I had completely forgotten about this.

I had no agents calling and I cannot recall any letters.

If any did arrive, I did not respond.

I certainly made no efforts to repay or acknowledgements of this since 2008.

I have requested a full statement of account from arvato/BCW.
