Hi

I have just moved from Cambridgeshire to Nottinghamshire and my insurance has gone from just over £26 a month to £50 a month just for change of address!

I have not changed my car which is a 1.4, Before my car was parked on the road but now I have my own drive. am disgusted and doubt be able to afford the extra money each month.

I have complained but they are not interested, every time you need something done with this company they charge! I would cancel but will get charged for that!

I believe that some of the NG postcodes are much higher risk that those in Cambridgeshire. Higher risk of theft of vehicles and theft from them.

You would be best to shop around and work out if it would be best to arrange cover elsewhere now, rather than wait until renewal. Obviously factor in cancellations costs with Hastings and whether you would be missing out on an additional years no claims.

Run through quotes on comparison sites and perhaps call an independent brokers (not Swinton) in Nottingham. Quite often independent brokers who depend on local trade can obtain the best quotes in their area.

We could do with some help from you.

thanks, yes only a couple left but working it out the last few will be nearly as much as the insurance was to start with!, A big hike tbh from £26 to £50 and tbh it will be a struggle to find this

If you only had two instalments left, Hastings raised an Administration Fee of £25 to change your address which is added to any extra premium the Insurer charge.

So that explains half of the extra premium

Swiftcover (for example) dont charge any admin fees for changing details as long as you do it via online account management and don't ring them, but do charge (or refund) if your changes affect the policy, as I think a change of post code could with any company.

Sadly I find it is never the case that staying with a company is good value, and the risk of joining a company with bad customer services/practices has to be weighed against the commonly large savings to be made in shopping around at renewal.
