A neighbour has asked if I can get some help on here.

She and her husband took out a joint bank loan.

Her husband recently died and

the bank are insisting that she pays all the remainder of the loan.

I was on the understanding that if a person died, then their debt died with them (that was certainly the case with my dad and his credit card debt).

Is my neighbour liable for her deceased husbands share of the loan, or just her share?.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

tell us the story

what was the loan and who with

and who do they pay at present?

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

They were/are jointly and severally responsible for the debt, so the bank is correct the wife has to pay.

Were they making separate payments to the bank (each ones "share"?)

Technically there are no shares it is one loan made to two people.

Any Letters I Draft are N0T approved by CAG and no personal liability is accepted.
