Was the debt owing pre or post bankruptcy?

Once discharged, the debts he had on the date of the bankruptcy order are written off (with certain exceptions such as student loans, fines and fraudulent benefit over payments). The record of his bankruptcy remains on the bankruptcy register for three months after the discharge.

A record of his bankruptcy also remains on your credit file for 6 years after the date he became bankrupt.

As in post #2, if the debt was from before Bankruptcy then just send whoever is chasing a letter confirming the date & Bankruptcy Number from the Court.

Also, send a copy (never send originals) of the Bankruptcy Certificate (issued on the day of Bankruptcy by the Court & the Official Receiver also sends a copy).

Depending on what Credit File was checked but Bankruptcy orders are mainly showing for 6 years.

NEVER telephone a DCA

If a DCA rings you, refuse to go through the security questions & hang up!
