Hi

I've been having a clear out and

came across an old Capital One statement.

The statement is from 2000 and I closed the account years ago.

Is it possible to claim back mis sold PPI on an account this old?

I've probably got no end of charges on this too.

I think the account closed in 2006/2007 not 100%

Thanks

yes of course it is. If you dont have all the statements start by sending a sar with £10 to Capital One

you need all the information before you lodge your complaint

Hi

This may be quite a strange question, but I can't seem to find an answer. I wrote to my credit card provider in 2012 via recorded delivery. I informed them I had changed address. They received the letter and it was signed for. They did not however change my address as I requested them to.

The credit card provider denies ever receiving the letter. Now the question is: do credit providers keep a hard copy of any correspondence I send them? Or is it just indicated on their activity log and the original letter disposed of.

I would really like a copy of this letter so need to know if they would keep a hard copy of the original?

Many thanks

Eagle

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Did you keep the signed for receipt ?

If not, then as dx advises, you should send a SAR - it SHOULD be recorded on their log - it is unlikely they would keep a copy of the original letter.

As DX and CB say SAR it will be a different department that deals with the SAR and will just print out copies of all doc's etc. not even looking at them, they get so many SAR requests they cannot do anything else so you will probably get a copy of the letter.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, I have received the SAR but the letter I really wanted was not included, nor was it recorded on the activity log. I doubt vey much they would have kept it then

Hi

I noticed I have a default from Capital One registered on Equifaxin 2010. I raised a dispute with Equifax and they received this reply from Capital One today

'Hello, I am unable to locate an account for Mr Eagle from the information received. Please could you supply an account reference and/or a date of birth to assist us further. Alternatively please call 0800 952 5143'

Can they keep processing the default if they are unable to locate an account?

It makes you wonder on what basis they are processing the default if they don't already have this information?

I would ask Equifax to put a notice of dispute on your Credit file until Capone sort themselves out ?

It's quite bizzare, this is actually the 3rd reply from Capital One. The first reply said, they were passing the account onto their fraud team, and would reply to me within two weeks. A month had passed with nothing from Capital One. I contacted Equifax again. Another reply from Capital One said they are now passing the information onto their team of specialists and will contact me in due course. Then I received the 'can't locate an account reply'
