Just got a £70 fine for 'overstaying' in Aldi's Boscombe store. As a paying customer I would expect to at least be informed that this time restriction was in place. Signage is appalling. I would have gone elsewhere to do my shopping if I had known about the ?70 tax on shopping at Aldi.

Apparently there is a machine inside you're meant to put your registration number into - only they try not to let you know as it is more profitable for them to get their hired thugs to send court threats and fines.

I now have to deal with Parking Eye - a well documented bunch of cowboy bullies with a notorious reputation for ripping off the general public.

I guess it's not just the shoddy products that help Aldi keep its prices low. It's now using underhand and sneaky tactics to help its bullyboy business partner threaten its customers with court - for a share of the booty presumably.

Not only that but #ParkingEye issued the ticket on June 20 and it didn't arrive until July 6. Even Royal Mail aren't that bad. Something devious is going on to make it impossible to pay the 'reduced' amount of £40. Not that I am going to pay a penny for this cheating [problem].

Don't expect me back in Aldi anytime soon.

It's not a fine. Also, defeating Parking Eye is very easy. I cant wait until they issue a silly charge to the wrong person and that person has the money to take them to the cleaners in court.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks

You get post delivered on Sundays?

Good point. It must have been July 7. Meant to keep the envelope and check the date on it once I noticed the long time between issuing it and me receiving it, but my mum inadvertantly threw it out in the meantime

The Notice To Keeper you received from PE, must be delivered to you within fourteen days of the parking event, for keeper liability to be allowed.

You are saying that is not the case then?

Ok,

what date did you park there?

PE have 12 days after the date of the supposed breach to get a letter out and 2 days for service so that is 14 days after the day you were there.

Still got your receipt or the wrapper of any of the goods you bought?

Send it to Aldi's HQ with a letter saying that you have been charged £70 for purchasing this item and it is obviously an error with their system and that you intend to take the matter further as both an overcharge and also an unfair contract.

My wife refuses to shop in Aldi ever since she got a demand for parking there, even though the demand was dropped like a hot potato after I got the local council onto the matter as a planning law breach (wont always work as most councils cant be bothered and PE will apply for retrospective PP for their signage etc).

I also managed to get Aldi an increased rates bill as they were using land that was thought to be derelict by the Valuations Agency as a car park.

The chances of that happening again are very slim but do ask your council about the planning consent requirements for free parking, it is often stipulated that there is 2 or 3 hours free parking and PE cannot override this requirement and Aldi know it but wont care unless they are forced to act.
