hello.

not sure if this thread belongs here, but here goes

i was insuring my 100cc scooter with aquote.

i bought a motorbike from a friend and i wanted to insure that too.

but i could not do it on same policy as the scooter

was told by aquote id have to have another policy for the motorbike alongside the scooter.

i wanted to still ride scooter until i got use to the bike, with having manual gears etc.

i cancelled the insurance on the scooter,as was not needing it anymore.

i was given a cancellation fee of £65,plus another amount outstanding

which came too £102.

i am still insuring my motorbike with aquote.

i received a letter saying if i didnt pay the cancellation fee etc

they would send it to a debt collections agency.

today i recieved a letter from "insurance collections bureau ltd" "IBC"

with the usual "please contact us within 14 days, failure to do so will

result in a field agent coming to the house for the full payment, furhter more solicitors are unbder notice

to take this matter further, court proceedings etc.

the amount they are asking for is now £153.70

which is £51 more than the original debt.

it says do not ignore this letter etc etc.

what should i do ? pay ? or fight them ?

some help would be appreciated

fight them for sure

if they have added penalties to the debt.

seems a bit bogus to me.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

  • 2 weeks later...

once judgement is obtained against you,we will enforce this debt by appointing

high court enforcment officers, who will apply additional costs to those mentioned above.

please note all county court judgements are recorded in the county courts register of judgements

and may adversely affect your ability to obtain credit.

it is important that you contact insurance collections bureau immediatley on reciept

you would need to look at the original terms of the credit agreement that lets you pay monthly to calculate how much you actually owe.

Any cancellation fees must be reasonable so about £25 would be proper.

Also, when you took out the other bike insurance did they actuallt transefer or cancel the existing cover?

If they were supposed to transfer it then any additional costs should have been factored into your new credit agreement for the new policy.

Often brokers say things that are not true to keep your money they earn as conmmision instead of giving it back to you.

the cancellation fee was £65.and the rest was what they said i still owed them on the policy.i had insurance on my 100cc scooter.i tried to have my new motorbike on the same insurance, they said i couldnt, and had to have 2 policys runnin side by side.i then sold my scooter, and cancelled the insurance with them on it.i am still insured by them for my motorbike.

Shame they forgot to mention HCEOs can only collect where the debt is more than £600 and not governed by the Consumer Credit Act.

i feel like i want to phone this solicitors "rollingsons" and question their threat of HCEOs

It will turn out to be a general template letter they send to everyone regardless of the sum involved. You could complain to the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

I think I would do that as the letter is just one long thread of threats and intimidation designed to frighten and harass.

i sent email to SRA but i have not had reply yet.had the usual confirmation of message to them

and they will get back to me etc.

aquote are expecting me to pay this now £70 by thursday 24th

when i spoke to some guy about paying them directly instead of DCA

he said to me he didnt know why it had gone to a DCA

and he said i could make two payments if easier for me.

then the line went dead at their end.

i called back and explained same thing to another lady at aquote customer services.

she said to make any payment to them would be impossible as its now out of their hands,

i said to her a colleague of yours told me 5 minutes ago i could make a payment.

then she said im gonna pass you over to the credit department.

who then said about if i made a one off payment of £70.

why is it when i get passed over does it feel like they have passed me over to the DCA ?

might sound paranoid, just a niggling feeling is all.

i am still in two minds to pay this, and if i dont what will happen then ?

maybe jsut pay it and forget about it ? or see how far it will go ?

what do you think ?

Have you sent your letter of complaint to the SRA yet ?

Don't ring, you always get the run around when you ring. Just send them a cheque for the amount by recorded, don't ask.

How much time was left on the scooter policy ?
