I was hoping for some advice regarding a txt msg I got (see below) which when read got me very concerned.

I rang the number and they said they were from regal credit.

They took some details from me and then told me I owed money to one of their clients.

I was angry with them about the way the tactics used to get hold of me.

I didn't know anything about this until the txt msg came through.

Because I gave them my details I now have a letter from them stating that they

"recommend to their client that legal action is commenced in 7 days.

Can I get some advice of what to do next as I'm really not sure what to do about this?

Any help is appreciated

Before we can give advice, we need details of the debt.

Also STAY OFF THE PHONE! You'll slip up if you go on there.

Remember that DCAs have no powers at all. So do not worry, both letter is probably a standard threatogram...

We could do with some help from you.

Do not talk to them again, no matter what they threaten to do.

You've received nothing but a template. The 7 days is meaningless.

Give us a brief history of the debt if you recognise it. If you don't, send them the "prove it" letter from the cag library. Otherwise ,

they will deluge you with further threats.

nothing you can or need to do really

they've done nowt wrong

you fell for the oldest trick in the book

as with the threat-o-grams, you responded

DCA's are NOT BAILIFFS

and have

NO SUCH LEGAL POWERS

any doorstepper as with any DCA on you doorstep

or on the phone

should be told to leave or the police shall be called

NEVER EVER pay or speak with a DCA on the phone or at your door.

ok now you've found that out , you came to CAG.

so , what's the debt all about please

is it on your credit file?

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Thanks for your advice so far guys it gives me more confidence and reduces the worry.

At this stage I'm doing a lot by memory of what the debt is about.

I started an IT course with a company called computeach back in the beginning of 2011.

I can't remember how much the payments were or the monthly amount I was paying for it.

I stopped the payments approx 3/4 months in due to loss of employment.

I informed them of my situation and that was that really.

I never heard from them again because apart from a couple of books sent to me,

there was no other use from the course due to not being able to pay for it.

I can't remember what I signed, if anything, as I have no information with me anymore because I didn't think it was relevant.

I left the address I was originally at in November 2012 and never heard anything from them

before I left so put it at the back of my mind.

Since then I received that txt from Regal and now here I am.

I'm presuming I should send them the letter to prove it? Or at least find out what I signed and how much for etc?

What do you think?

There is one saving grace here as the this was a phone call it cannot be taken as an admission of liability, although I seem to remember that they have tried to do so in the past.

Mr Nigier Rutzier is the "boss" still I think.

Any Letters I Draft are N0T approved by CAG and no personal liability is accepted.

Don't know if it was Clydsdale Financial Services T/A Barclay Partner Finance, part of Barclays Plc, answerable to the Barclaycard division that was providing point of sale finance to Computeach at that point.

They eventually withdrew from the training marketplace.

I'm not sure if it's on the credit file. How would I find that out?

I have attached a pic of the last letter I received. I'm really very ignorant to all this and I still don't know what I signed up for and exactly when. I read some of the other posts from the past and noticed they are similar but most seem to mention Barclays as a loan provider and the amounts all seem to be bigger, not that this matters I suppose.

If my next step is to check on my credit file then can you let me know the link. Other wise can you let me know what I should do next?

Thx

**you can post up images/letters by this method immediately..you don't need 10 posts**

.

set your default scan page size to A4 less than 300DPI [150 will do]

scan the required letters/agreements/sheets - as a picture[jpg] file

don't forget you can use a mobile phone or a digital camera too!!

'

BUT......

ENSURE: remove all pers info inc. barcodes etc

but leave all monetary figures and dates.

.

************************* ************************* *******

{DO NOT USE A BIRO OR PEN OR USE SEE THRU TAPE OR LABELS]

************************* ************************* ***********

.

DO IT IN MSPAINT.EXE or any photo editing program

goto one of the many free online pdf converter websites ...

http://freejpgtopdf.com/

http://www.convert-jpg-to-pdf.net/

..

if you have multiple scans/pics

put them in a word doc FIRST and convert that to PDF

or http://www.freepdfconvert.com/

or

use www.pdfmerge.com

convert existing PC files to PDF [office has an installable print to PDF option]

..

it would be better to upload a multipage pdf if

you have many images too rather than many single pdfs

.

or if you have PDF as an installed printer drive use that

or use word and save as pdf

try and logically name your file so people know what it is.

though DONT USE BANK NAMES or CAG in the title

i'e Default notice DD-mm-yyyy

.

open a new msg box here

hit go advanced below the msg box

hit manage attachments below that box

hit the add files button on the top right

hit select files, navigate to your file on your pc

hit upload files

...

YOU DONT have to put a link to the attachment in the msg box..just upload it ..job done

you can click on your links to check them too!

The usual *shall* and field agents

Honestly? I'd ignore... It's worded to inscribe fear but honestly... I'd send them a prove it letter if you can't remember it.

It can't harm

Lol... Agree... :-P

It's up to you... You can entertain them with a Prove it and CCA Letter with the usual pound. Or ignore... Personally... Regal Credit are low risk IMO but others may disagree

I would agree that regal are low risk.

The letter is a typical 'fire and brimstone' threat o gram and I had contact with them some time ago which turned out to be all hot air.

No I moved in nov 2012. What I don't get is why I heard nothing from computeach for nearly 2 years while I was at the old address. The only info they had was my mobile number and regal started contacting me a couple of months ago.

I do hope it turns out to be hot air david
