I'm wanting some recent advice regarding Parking Eye charges in Scotland (the law is different here). I parked in a free car park and there were plenty of spaces available, but did not register my car per the notice. I received a Parking Charge Notice giving details of time and place and pictures of my car entering and leaving the car park.

The notice did not give the name and address of the landowner and the appeals procedure was to write to Parking Eye. POPLA does not apply in Scotland. The penalty charge is £100 reduced to £60 if paid within 28 days.

As the registered keeper of the car -- I received the notice and it did state that if I wasn't the driver I should pass on the notice and inform Parking Eye.

I'm reading different advice on this site - old advice is to ignore - more up to date advice is to appeal. But all of this seems to apply under English law.

If I appeal - I believe I have just cause on the unreasonableness of the charge (£100 cannot be considered reasonable). However as the appeal is to Parking Eye - I cannot believe that they would respond appropriately. It also lets Parking Eye know that I received the notice.

If I ignore - will they take me to court? I understand I will get a lot of threatening letters but has anyone been taken to court in Scotland by Parking Eye and what was the outcome.
