seems fine to me. fundamentally you need to be able to fulfil the terms of your contract. You may get a little more leeway on absences but how much will vary with the condition and job.

Never assume anyone on the internet is who they say they are. Only rely on advice from insured professionals you have paid for!

Absolutely. Perhaps the OP should do intelligence on the possibility of a negotiated severance under ill-health criteria. Otherwise, as they pointed out themselves, eventual dismissal under a 'MfA' scheme or similar would be almost inevitable. Indeed, the company may well be sympathetic to the former in order to avert the potentially protracted latter.
