    • I came across this discussion recently and just wanted to give my experience of A Shade Greener that may help others regarding their boiler finance agreement.
      We had a 10yr  finance contract for a boiler fitted July 2015.
      After a summer of discontent with ASG I discovered that if you have paid HALF the agreement or more you can legally return the boiler to them at no cost to yourself. I've just returned mine the feeling is liberating.
      It all started mid summer during lockdown when they refused to service our boiler because we didn't have a loft ladder or flooring installed despite the fact AS installed the boiler. and had previosuly serviced it without issue for 4yrs. After consulting with an independent installer I was informed that if this was the case then ASG had breached building regulations,  this was duly reported to Gas Safe to investigate and even then ASG refused to accept blame and repeatedly said it was my problem. Anyway Gas Safe found them in breach of building regs and a compromise was reached.
      A month later and ASG attended to service our boiler but in the process left the boiler unusuable as it kept losing pressure not to mention they had damaged the filling loop in the process which they said was my responsibilty not theres and would charge me to repair, so generous of them! Soon after reporting the fault I got a letter stating it was time we arranged a powerflush on our heating system which they make you do after 5 years even though there's nothing in the contract that states this. Coincidence?
      After a few heated exchanges with ASG (pardon the pun) I decided to pull the plug and cancel our agreement.
      The boiler was removed and replaced by a reputable installer,  and the old boiler was returned to ASG thus ending our contract with them. What's mad is I saved in excess of £1000 in the long run and got a new boiler with a brand new 12yr warranty.
      You only have to look at TrustPilot to get an idea of what this company is like.

    • Dazza a few months ago I discovered a good friend of mine who had ten debts with cards and catalogues which he was slavishly paying off at detriment to his own family quality of life, and I mean hardship, not just absence of second holidays or flat screen TV's.
      I wrote to all his creditors asking for supporting documents and not one could provide any material that would allow them to enforce the debt.
      As a result he stopped paying and they have been unable to do anything, one even admitted it was unenforceable.
      If circumstances have got to the point where you are finding it unmanageable you must ask yourself why you feel the need to pay.  I guarantee you that these companies have built bad debt into their business model and no one over there is losing any sleep over your debt to them!  They will see you as a victim and cash cow and they will be reluctant to discuss final offers, only ways to keep you paying with threats of court action or seizing your assets if you have any.
      They are not your friends and you owe them no loyalty or moral duty, that must remain only for yourself and your family.
      If it was me I would send them all a CCA request.   I would bet that not one will provide the correct response and you can quite legally stop paying them until such time as they do provide a response.   Even when they do you should check back here as they mostly send dodgy photo copies or generic rubbish that has no connection with your supposed debt.
      The money you are paying them should, as far as you are able, be put to a savings account for yourself and as a means of paying of one of these fleecers should they ever manage to get to to the point of a successful court judgement.  After six years they will not be able to start court action and that money will then become yours.
      They will of course pursue you for the funds and pass your file around various departments of their business and out to third parties.
      Your response is that you should treat it as a hobby.  I have numerous files of correspondence each faithfully organised showing the various letters from different DCA;s , solicitors etc with a mix of threats, inducements and offers.   It is like my stamp collection and I show it to anyone who is interested!

So, to sum up:

  • Your job was 'given' to someone else at a 15% lower rate;
  • You were told to apply for a job that wasn't vacant;
  • But was 145 miles away even so.

yes, very really

I think you need to give us absolutely clear details of how the process was conducted which identified your role as being redundant.

1. Was a selection process used which scored you and your colleagues?

2. Was your score in this process the lowest?

There were 10 regions and us 10 managers. They changed the operation structure and made 5 bigger regions instead of 10. Then they asked us that to comply with operational structure we will have to follow the same route. They told us that instead of 10 Finance Managers there will be 5 Financial controllers and they be reported by 5 Finance Managers. Finance Director phoned each of us and said that there will be no job losses and we were happy that even those who go for Financial Controller and not successful will stay on Finance Managers job.

They put me in two regions, one was London and another one was East and asked me and my colleagues about our views on 1st draft consultation Pack. I was planning to go for newly created FC job which had the same job responsibilities that I was performing but because the pay was lower than my existing pay so I said I can't participate in the process as the pay is lower. As I said above that I was also kept in London Pool as well but another FM I share my office in London with was going to go for it and I knew that he will get that job as he was close to operations director of London region.

After seeing my interest in FC job they came back with the second draft and in there they changed the base to somewhere in Herts where it could take me 2 hrs to drive due to M25 traffic and they increased the pay level to the same as they would have given to London FC job which was unusual of them to do as London is more pricier than Herts and pay levels are different.

After 2nd draft was released we were only given 3 days to decide and there was no consultation available. I apologized and said to them that I am not interested in FC job in East anymore and only want to go for FC London and FM London (my existing job) I knew that I won't get FC job and it was ok for me.

Now this is where all the problems started, in London Pool now there were 3 people for 2 jobs whereas in East pool there was one person and 2 jobs as I cut off from there due to base was changed from London to Herts. Please note that there is no office in Herts so why would they say based in Herts? and Later on they advertised the job in Cambridge where Ops Director is based at and we have an office.

During the interview FD was asking me interview related questions and was also asking me where am I with my existing work and I am up to date etc which was very unusual thing to ask.

Once I was told that I can't be FC for London, I asked them if you have travel flexibility then I want to be considered for FC East but they said you scored low for FC job and we can't give you FC job.

Then they had to to do interview FM for London on 28/11. On 26/11 I received a phone call from my line manager asking me that he wants to arrange consultation with me on 4th of Dec. How did he know on 26/11 that he will have to have consultation with me on on 4/12 whereas the interview for FM was on 28/11?

On 28/11 afternoon I was told that other person has scored more than you and she gets the job. I was told if I want I can apply for 20% less pay job in East based in Lincoln which I denied and said to them that you just set me up for this fixed match.

On 4/12 consultation day I was given redundancy memo with amount in it and was told to sign by 16/12. At the bigining of the meeting I was told that "this is a lesson for you". and I lost my 10 years old job because of their ego.

I asked them why I was kept in East Pool they said because you have done some work, I said to them main region was London which I know 75% whereas the person you have FM job know only 25% where is the justice and he just had same answer you were not good at interview.

I told him that I did some work in West region as well why I wasn't kept in that pool than as well, no I answered I received so far. Then they appointed a new FC in East who didn't even know any region so how come they put him in East? this is just a flawed theory.

When someone commit crime he/she leaves trails.

There is more than that i.e. background why I have been made redundant and low score isn't the answer as they don't have any recording of the interview just some notes which I doubt that they have not written properly.
