AFAIK it wont unless they perform international credit checks. To consider bankruptcy in the UK, iirc you have to have been resident in the UK in the last 3 years.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

I assume this relates to debts in the UK and not the USA?

Your credit rating cannot be transferred to the USA so nothing to worry about on that score.

However, if your UK debts are substantial and you have equally substantial assets in the US, your UK creditors may try to chase them.

As far as actually going BR, if you've been living outside the UK for

I suggest you seek professional, unbiased advice to explore your options.

Do you mean my UK creditors can chase me in the US even after I have been declared bankrupt in the UK?

Only if they werent included in the bankruptcy. And its very unlikely due to the amount it would cost to bring a claim and to chase you in the US, plus you can easily contest jurisdiction. You MIGHT get 1 or 2 phishing letters, but nothing will come of them unless its a colossal amount that is actually enforceable, and if it were, then a DCA wouldnt have ownership, the OC would chase you themselves or involve a solicitor.
