I remember Dennis Skinner giving Thatcher a headache, He has and always will be a great MP, that is why he has been there for so long. One of the best. Well Done Mr Skinner, long may you continue.

Pretty much sums up the concern most MP's have on the issue. Zero.

I have also thought Dennis Skinner was one of the (very) few who said things as they are, not with politicospeak. Betty Boothroyde was another

Can you imagine the furore if Mr. Skinner was elevated to the House of Lords. The upper chamber would never be the same again :!:

So, so, True !! On a subject like that the attendance is a disgrace !! Had it been a debate about their salaries they would have been fighting to get in.

This shows just how little our representatives in government care for us.

It is people like Dennis Skinner that we should have as leaders of the Parties, those who wish to represent the interests of the electorate and not just bothered about their own political career path.

It would never happen as Dennis is a republican, who wants to get rid of all the Lords and other titles, replacing them with democratically elected representatives of the people.

The problem with the empty seats is that I think this was the day that Angela Merkel was giving some speach to MP's and others, so most would be attending that.

As for this coalitions policy, I think they have introduced a system that is about taking away benefits and the assessments have an in built weighting making sure most people are seen as fit for work. The DWP decision makers are then ignoring any information that is received from GP's and are cancelling benefit entitlements. This has led to the deaths of many people, for which I don't think government ministers really care about. Ministers would have received a confidential impact assessment on the governments policy and this would have stated that deaths would be expected. I am not sure that this impact assessment will never be published because it could be used by families to sue the government.

We could do with some help from you.
