    • Hello.  I have Shakespeare Martineau chasing me for a debt at the moment.  I have looked them up and can't find out much about them, has anyone here had experience in dealing with them?   The debt is for electricity from a previous property.  I had a DRO, they asked for a meter reading and I gave one.  They wrote down the wrong number, and didn't write off all the debt.  I have been in touch several times, and even asked for a recording of the call to prove they wrote down the wrong number, but they didn't have it recorded and refused to acknowledge the problem.    Now, it's a couple of years later and I have Shakespeare Martineau chasing me for the full amount.  I'm receiving ESA and waiting to hear from my PIP claim.  I have mental health problems and am also in a deficit each month.  My savings are going down to nothing as my rent is too high, but due to the DRO my options for rental are limited as I have bad credit.   Anyhow, I'm worried that Shakespeare Martineau will take me to court and I'll get another CCJ.  In the past, some debt recovery companies have offered payment plans and reduced settlements.  Do Shakespeare Martineau ever offer this?   I have written to them to complain about their tactics.  They have not taken my mental health condition into account.  They are bullying me asking for full payment or else action will be taken.  They have not taken my limited financial circumstances into account.  They have ignored me when I tell them I do not owe that amount.  Classic bullying tactics... what can I do?   Thanks.
    • Hi Andy  taking this to the court today, do I need to send a copy to the claimant   thanks
    • Hi Andy,   No debt on my credit file for this.
    • Hi and Welcome to CAG Dave.   Have you checked your Credit files to see if this debt is registered already ?   Andy
    • Hey CAG, I've had a letter from BW legal today claiming that I owe the sum of £182. I had a letter from another DCA about 18 month's ago for the same debt (Instant Cash Lones LTD t/a Pay Day Express). I've never had a payday loan other than from wonga in about 2010 which was paid back in full.  Upon speaking to their telephone advisor they told me the are unable to pass security as the DOB they hold on file is different to the one on the account. I sent them proof of my DOB to prove to them it's not me and they've now updated the DOB on file to mine.  They say I have until the 27th of july to pay up else they'll be taking me to court for a debt that's not mine.  Any idea what I can do here or what my next steps are or should I just pay it to protect my credit file?

Has an explanation of the alleged debt been made by Hoist or RW in writing?

If not then the prove it letter is the right course.

You can address it directly to Mr Najib Nathoo the boss at Hoist.

If I understand things correctly, your complaint is apparently almost resolved if so, then you do not need send the letter above. You could write to the company and ask if your complaint has been upheld in its entirety. If they dont respond or confirm then perhaps ask the FOS if they could deal with that on your behalf.

Oh my god!

Have come across this thread

https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?418009-Robinson-Way-unknown-debt&p=5143435#post5143435

due to receiving a letter from them today for £3863.07!!!!!!!!

Apparently for (Ex Blackhorse)???

The only thing I can think of is something to do with a Lloyds Bank Account which I have never had!!!

I have recently had to deal with debt collectors as my ex left me with debts that had nothing to do with me only in name

- just wondering if it is some kind of gateway to then opening up a linked person for someone else who owes the debt as my EX DID have a Lloyds account many many years ago (20!)

There is absolutely no way I owe anyone this amount of money!!!!

My first reaction is to ignore.

On a side note I haven't looked to see how old this thread is

- however, it has made meel sooooooo much better to have read responses and be a keyboard warrior about it!!!!

Still married to a serial borrower/tax dodger/no scruples bloke :(
