Hi

I cannot open a bank account anywhere, I have tried every high street bank I can think of.

Barclays briefly opened a basic account for me which was closed some 48 hours later with no reasoning or explanation.

I have checked my credit file and

whilst it is appalling in it's nature, lots of defaults and a couple of CCJs

I was advised by Yorkshire Bank that I may have a fraud marker against my name - I cannot see this.

There are no CIFAS warnings and I have registered with all 3 credit reference agencies.

I have tried to open accounts with;

Natwest

Lloyds

Coop

Santander

Barclays

Yorkshire Bank

Halifax

Nationwide

They've all said no.

I just don't know what to do,

I cannot cope without a bank account and

I have debt problems yes,

but what risk am I to a bank with an account that cannot go overdrawn? :(

Hoping somebody can help.

Regards

it's prob the fact that your have tried so many times that's prevented you.

the co-op will give you one..

but, if you'ed tried them after several others

that's the reason it was refused.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Co-op Cash minder appears to be the best one to try for.

easiest basic accounts are usually co-op or barclays

the other option might be to try and get an account through the Post Office, though not sure what their criteria are

as someone else has stated the fact that you have made so many attempts in a short period of time might be causing problems

but what risk am I to a bank with an account that cannot go overdrawn? :(

i think the issue is more likely to be how little money the bank can make off you if you cannot go overdrawn

If the bank doesn't want you to go overdrawn then it won't although yes there are certain circumstances with debit cards where it could.

A few years ago I had a Halifax card cash account that had a solo card . Ok so some places I couldn't use it but it meant I could not go overdrawn.

Any opinion I give is from personal experience .

I had same problem. Back in 2012 coop opened a bank account for me. They did close it in 2013 as I've had charges. My credit history gotten worse but I went to Barclays late 2013 and oppened an account without o/d facility. I've had failed IVA, CCJs, plenty of defaults back then and I was only on benefits when i went to Barclays. Month ago they even sent me a cheque book! :-o
