For those people that were transfered from O2 to SKY,

beware of what SKY is trying to do,

they are trying to make you pay for services you are NOT getting.

Here is my story:

Everything was ok, that is, until I received the bill.

On 6th Febuary 2014, I received an e-mail, saying,

Welcome to sky, entitled Confirmation of your payment details.

I read it, because I didn't actually confirm anything with sky regarding such details.

Plus, they were already taking money from me,

I presumed all was ok.

What a shock I got, I am, or was, to be billed £32.42.

I know I had received an e-mail, again from SKY, saying that February’s payment would not be collected,

but unfortunately I deleted that mail, and I thought that e-mail was in part goodwill gesture for all the interruption during the switch-over from O2 to sky.

you can imagine my shock to get a bill from them, not only for the days I did not get any service, but also for the month of March,

which I will not be using anyway, because I asked for a MAC code and am transferring out from SKY.

I looked at the bill very carefully, as I wanted to know exactly what I’m paying for,

and this is the part I almost had a heart attack,

I’m being billed for services...wait for it....that I’m NOT getting. Yes, you heard that right, it's not an error....I’ll be paying for services, I'M NOT GETTING!!!!

At this point, I’m fuming,

I’m ready to go pvp on someone.

I contacted SKY, and their excuse was something along the lines that.

..I’m paying an excess for those people that want the package to make it more attractive to get it.

I'm paying for something I’m not getting to make it attractive to someone else? Um...I don't think so.

This was not part of the contract I didn't sign or agree to,

nor was it ever explained to me in advance of moving over to SKY.

If it had been, I wouldn't have moved or let it go ahead over to SKY in the first place.

I made a few posts and rant on facebook page and on the phone.

All to no avail.

However, SKY is well informed that I will NOT be paying the bill, nor will any such bill ever be paid for by me at any time to anyone.

If SKY wishes to pursue this bill,

I’ll be charging legal services at minimum wage, per hour.

I am charging minimum wage because I’m not legally trained,

but I do know some people that are, and will have no problem pursuing it all the way to court.

I have to charge a fee, because this is wasting my time and effort, plus,

it's like me paying for their imaginary services I’m not getting,

I’m applying an imaginary charge for my time and effort.

overall, I’m very disgusted with SKY, hiding fees and charging for rubbish that it's there, I call that fraud.

At very least, it's misleading and borderline theft.

will use any and all legal avenues to pursue this, and I will go to the high court if needed.

I have cancelled all direct debits and standing orders concerning sky, and I’ll see you in court.

Thank you, i am re-formatting my post here, hopefully i can edit it to accomodate images.

Here are the images without downloading...i hope.

P.S. I give up, i can't seem to get it to work, if anyone can help, would be apreciated.

P.P.S. Thank you for whoever re-titled this, i am sorry for the lack of words at the moment, and the poor grammer of my post, but i'm so angry and frustrated at the moment, all common sense seems to have left me. I'll be back to normal in a few days, once i got my head round it, and then i can explore options of how to aleviate this problem and what happens next.

As it stands, my aim at this moment is to make people aware of any potential problems with SKY, and to be aware of thier public rights to question such things, and never back down if the law is on your side:)

sorry i don't understand?

Sky unlimited broadband is £10 per month. If you have sky tv this is discounted to £7.50 per month.

So by going by your pics you only have phone and bb and not talk so you are being charged the extra £2.50 per month.

I am in the same boat. I actually cancelled my o2 home phone and broadband in Feb and later found out it got transferred to Sky in March. I kicked off a stick because Sky promised (I have the letter) to only charge me what I am/was paying to o2 for 12 months. They lied, They slammed a £2.50 per month charge on my bill for not being a Sky TV customer.

Sky claimed to have sent Sky's T/C's to everyone. I did not receive it and I am aware of others that didn't receive it. I have contacted Sky mutiple times by e-mail and same thing comes back "tough".

I can't see how they can legally impose this £2.50 charge as I did not agree to their T/C's bearing in mind that my contract with o2 ended in January. Needless to say I also cancelled my direct debit. I got a text message from them today "We've not received your last Sky payment. Go to Sky.com/mysky to pay. You're in contract and may be subject to early termination charges if you don't pay".

I'm going to play with these muppets.

I'm in contract? errr no I'm not.

Termination charges? I'm not in a contract.

Imposing £2.50 in penalty charges? Show me a signed contract that I agree to pay this penalty charge.

Again I terminated my contract with o2 in Feb and o2 confirmed this.

I exactly understand what the OP is saying. o2 customers were forced to Sky, not by choice, and Sky have been slamming charges onto our bills for not having other Sky services and Sky expect o2 customers to pay them. They can't legally impose these charges forced upon o2 peeps.

I am looking into this in detail and I will be involving Trading Standards.

Did anyone make any progress with this?

We've just discovered my girlfriend has been paying these same charges £2.50 for not having Sky TV!

Sky have also informed us she's in a 12 month contract which started from the date Sky took over the O2 service!

I've just been emailing Sky and they are completely unhelpful. I've now told them I'll be taking this up with Ofcom as my girlfriend has never agreed to sign up to a 12 month contract.

I am still working on it.

Sky had no right to put you into a new 12 month contract if you were transferred to Sky from o2 unless you agreed to it.

Sky email is pants and not worth dealing with.

I am in the process of writing to Sky head orfice to find out what the hell they are playing at and it will be sent by recorded delivery.

This £2.50 charge is a penalty charge forced upon you that at no time you agreed to pay it.

They are acting unlawfully on this matter alone.

Did you ever receive a copy of Sky's T's and C's through the post? I know two that haven't.

Also, Were you told WHEN you were being moved or like me you received nothing except a bill?

This is enough from Unfair Contracts:

Unfair Terms

5.

—(1) A contractual term which has not been individually negotiated shall be regarded as

unfair if, contrary to the requirement of good faith, it causes a significant imbalance in the parties’

rights and obligations arising under the contract, to the detriment of the consumer.

Written contracts

7.

—(1) A seller or supplier shall ensure that any written term of a contract is expressed in

plain, intelligible language.

I never received one.

(i) irrevocably binding the consumer to terms with which he had no real opportunity of

becoming acquainted before the conclusion of the contract;

I have had great success with complaining direct to the CEO of Sky when I had issues with the Sky setup.

I ended up paying £30 a month for a £90 a month package after one of their team got back to me quickly,

and called me every step to make sure I were happy.

We weren't informed when the switchover would be made.

First we knew was when the broadband stopped working.

Turned out our router needed different settings inputted to work with Sky Broadband.

I've been amazed how unhelpful and uninterested Sky have been over the phone and by email.

I've pointed out numerous reasons that we shouldn't be in a 12 month contract.

Their response was "all new Sky customers have to have a 12 month contract!"

I was planning to take this up with Ofcom but if people have had more success dealing with someone at Sky,

perhaps you could give me a contact name and address.

I'm so cross with Sky over this.

We specifically didn't sign up to any new deals because we knew we wouldn't be living at this address for the full 12 month period.

Good.

That's 2 others not including myself.

More people that have had the same problem the more serious it will be for them.

You say about a new 12 month contract.

They can't do it unless you agree and have signed the dotted line.

The proof then lies with them to prove that you agreed to it as they legally can't impose a new 12 month contract without your knowledge.

Argument:

I didn't sign a contract with you.

You never supplied me with a 14 day cooling off period which you are legally obliged to provide under the distant selling act regulation act.

You have forced this upon me as I am in contract with o2.

It's irrelevant to me as my contract with o2 expired in January.

It really gets my goat up things like this.

A BIG company thinks they are untouchable by one single person.

They are so wrong.

I took on Barclays 3 years ago,

They still have 3 years left before the CCJ drops off their credit files.

See where I'm going......

Change supplier as soon as you contractual agreement with o2 expires. There is diddly squat they can do about it.

The pain in the arse is I didn't want a new 12 month contract hence why I didn't change provider when Sky took it over.

From what we were told we would not be under any contract with Sky which was ideal

as it meant when we leave this property we could walk away from the broadband with minimal notice.

I'm also severely annoyed that Sky can increase our monthly costs from approximately £17 per month to £23.40 with apparently no notification.

the most frustrating thing was talking to the Sky staff on the phone and now conversing by email.

It's like I'm dealing with idiots.

They are complately unhelpful and uninterested.

In fact they've now stopped replying to my emails!

It's gone up because Sky gave us all 3 months free Broadband. But saying that I remember one of the letters they sent said that will will freeze the price you pay for a year. Deffo nothing about a new 12 month contract. We got them by the balls on that alone!
