So what would happen if people filled in these bogus jobs on their job search sheet.

I would just keep adding them week after week - and what could the DWP do, the so called jobs are on their site.

As someone else has said, this has been going on for years, under various governments. Over 20 years ago I did a temporary job in a Jobcentre (slightly better than being unemployed!), and it went on then, along with employers advertising a job at a salary, then offering it to a candidate for less on a pretext, and even one memorable employer who advertised for secretaries but actually trying to recruit girls for adult entertainment! The last was arrested, but all we could with the others was refuse to accept their vacancies; they then complained to regional management, said they wouldn't do it again - then did.

The problem is lack of deterrent and enforcement, not some conspiracy.

Correct - nothing is a conspiracy, really. Or, to put it another way, "never attribute to malice that which can adequately be explained by incompetence."

UJM is awful because, well, some idiot had a big idea and the problem turned out to be harder to solve than anyone actually thought. So now they have to make it compulsory and harass people because, well, the alternative is to admit failure.

It's not the Gov's fault. It's the recruitment agents that post fake jobs to fish for contacts and leads. The labour market is fecked. "Jobs" don't exist anymore.

They could start with: If it's an agency ask for the name of the company even if they don't publish it on the site 2) random checks on the company 3) take the agency to court if they are found to advertising fake jobs. But to accomplish this they'd need their own task force.

Ah yes, but who who would police the task force?.. probably the very same DWP people who are allowing the fake jobs up there in the first place.

There's also no real incentive to clean up bogus job vacancies as it inflates the numbers.

Might be a good start to reign in the company Kleeneaze. Ch 4 news found that most of the bogus jobs were advertised by them (or their employees).

I'm afraid there's no way for the DWP to police this. How on earth would they verify if a vacancy was genuine?

To be fair, that's for them to work out, not us. If they're going to use the threat of starvation to force people to use their website, it's incumbent on them to ensure that said site is not a steaming pile of excrement.

I noticed a LOT of "work from home" jobs on their when I was looking

ALL of them were the [problem] ads, where you pay for "Information" which you then sell on by posting ads yourself

It's nuts.

Why they allow them is anyone's guess.

I always avoid anything that mentions starting your own "business".

Let's be clear about this - UJM os a steaming pile of turd, it serves NO PURPOSE at all apart from being a spying machinr for JCP, DWP and WP providers. There are no REAL jobs on there all that it offers is zero contract jobs, catalogue distribution, cleaning and workfare activities.

From about 2 weeks in to being unemployed I refused to use it and it is not on my JSA agreement to do so, my advisers at JCP were happy with this as I proved I use many other external sources to search for work (albeit I now think a lot of advertised jobs on there are bogus) but at least it seems more real.

I am highly educated and have many years of work experience and I refused to use UJM as it provide NO HELP whatsoever to someone looking for positions at the higher end of the market. I even had one adviser tell me it was rubbish and would not benefit me at all.

So, to be frank and honest to you all - you won't find real work using UJM, it is a tool devised to keep tabs on you - simple as that.

It should be scrapped.

UJM makes the WP's agents life easy to apply for fake jobs on behalf of the jobseekers. I've seen it done. My former WP agent told me.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for Poundland"

It wouldn't take them an hour a day to remove and block all the fake ads

Any ad which diverts you to CV submission sites, should raise a red flag, not to mention the "Start you rown business" ones.

Yep, it's not hard but it's too simple for those in charge.

The amount of bureaucracy involved in doing anything with Gov't is laughable.

if any council in the UK was a business they'd all go out of business.

Someone somewhere is accountable for the UJM and person is trying to protect their job and your expense.

its pretty obvious the UJM wasn't tested properly but it was signed off as fit for purpose by someone in a govt who's scared of failure and doesn't want to seen as wasting public money.....Well guess what!!

Another fake one.

They keep allowing a certain company to post jobs who I know is striking off his compNy. I worked for this guy and was lied to and then not paid. I had to take him to court for wages were he continued to lie (badly). He continues to take people on, put them in a job, then doesn't pay up. I was assured by my "advisor", after providing all the proof that he would not be allowed to post adverts. Unsurprisingly he's still posting. I flagged this again through the site and was told "you'll have to speak to your advisor". I replied "I have been signed off for two years. Do not assume I am a claimant.." No reply but he's still posting....absolute joke

I've said it before. If a jobseeker is out of pocket or has his or her personal data, security and identity compromised, then they should be apologised to and compensated in full by the DWP ASAP. The DWP should then pursue these conmen through the courts for the monies owed.

An alternative should ideally be a class action lawsuit against Iain Duncan Smith, Esther McVey, DWP and JCP. They are the ones making it mandatory for jobseekers to use the unfit for purpose UJM and apply for vacancies hat are highly dubious to say the least.
