Hi Guys,

I have one late payment marker from Barclaycard from 3 years ago

which I have been told may affect my chances of getting a mortgage in the near future.

This is the only late payment I have on my Credit Report in the past 5 years

so would like to try and get it taken off if possible.

I think the payment was literally 3 days late due to a banking error on my behalf but it is still there either way!

I do have some other marks on my credit report which are 5+ years old but they are due to drop off after this year so aren't such an issue.

I was just wondering if any of you guys have seen or had any success with getting things like this amended by BC

with a good will letter and if so could advise on what is the best way to go about it?

Thanks in advance! :-)

I doubt one late payment will harm you

nor actually be seen in the summary search mortgage companies do.

they are not being as tight as they used to be.

Hi Knight,

As DX says, I doubt the single late payment marker will affect a loan application if you sorted the matter so quickly after the payment was due.

Who said it may affect an application - a lender or a friend offering advice.

In any event, if the marker was posted correctly, I doubt the bank would consider removing it.

If the other markers are due to drop off soon, they should also not hinder a loan application.

Keep an eye on your CRA files to ensure you only make a loan appl'n AFTER the other adverse markers have dropped off.

:-)

Ahhh I see, thanks Dx and Slick. It was a broker that I have spoken to that said I may have difficulty with the late payment on my record so I panicked!

If you guys think it should be ok then I may not bother trying.

Yes the other markers drop off at the end of this year so I may wait, just to be on the safe side!

Thanks again for the advice, much appreciated!

Hi Knight,

A broker will have better experience than me, of the effect of adverse CRA markers when making a loan application.

Take advice from all sources and then make your judgements as best you can.
