I last September I phoned my bank and asked them what loans I have had with them over the years and which ones I had paid ppi on.

I then made a claim on one of them from the details they gave me and received £3700.

Today the bank phone me to tell me that wanted to collect this money back as they had made a mistake

due to the loan not being in my name but a family member.

They have offered me £200 in compensation but I don't know where I stand with this.

Any advice on this matter would be gratefully received.

Yes - tell them to put it all into a detailed letter so that you can understand precisely what their position is and the basis for their calculations.

Tell them that you do not admit any liability.

Start reading this forum about estoppel.

Ok thanks I will phone them tomorrow and ask for this in writing.

They wanted to correct the money today as I haven't spent it but as I only have a business account I have informed them that I would require two weeks .

Am I able to ask for more compensation if this comes back as they have said?

and send them an SAR

you said you had 'loans' with them?

I wonder if there is PPI lurking that you have not discovered?

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
