Vodafone applied a default on my account on 1/12/2013. I opened the account 1/03/2013 and it was for 24 months. I only had a late payment in July which I satisfied before going on an overseas travel in August. Before travelling I ringed Vodafone customer care staff and he told me he would have the account suspended.I was going to be away for 4 months. Turns out nothing of such happened, The account was cancelled and I was billed a total of £344. It is still outstanding now

When i got back late DEC 2013, I wanted to reactivate the account but I was told it was cancelled and that I had to pay up to have the default satisfied. I just got off a very heated conversation:mad2 with Vodafone's DCA and all they said is the best way for me is too set up a payment plan and have my default satisfied. I said I needed advise and will get back to them.

I have checked all 3 CRA and only Call Credit has it updated as a default. Nothing of such on Equifax and Experian. I honestly didn't know an account can't be suspended due to overseas travel except in the military but I was not told by the CC rep, and I never got any correspondence from Vodafone ever, a warning letter or anything of such advising me of default. I am totally down hear.

The most infuriating part was the statement by the rep that I can never get the default removed, that it's a genuine debt and is very fair and that there is nothing that can be done. it's not even 6 months from the supposed default, I never got any letters from either vodafone or an external DCA.

Is there anything that can be done realistically at this point? Please experts in the house I need your help.

Thanks

Welcome to CAG!

Stay off the phone to the DCA... also can you please tell us who the DCA is?

They will say anything to get you to pay. Do it all in letter.

Also there is a wonderful Vodafone rep on here by the name of Lee... He does an awesome job and resolves things quite well.

Im pretty sure that he will beable to assist and get the account up and running again.

Vodafone at times can be careless... I'm currently a customer of theirs and have had a few cockups and I pay them a lot of money.

They should have sent a letter confirming your agreed suspension pending you returning to the UK.

We could do with some help from you.

and never ring a dca nor speak to them either!!

DCA's are NOT BAILIFFS

and have

no such legal powers.

follow this

and post back with the ref number

so lee can find you.

We here at CAg have a very successful VodaFone Rep operating here

.

We advise you to follow this method to alert them to your thread:

.

To get this looked into further could we please you ask you to email

.

https://help.vodafone.co.uk/system/selfservice.controller?CMD=ESCALATION_REQUEST&PARTITION_ID=1&CONFIGURATION=1000&COUNTRY=us&LANGUAGE=en

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Thanks so much.

The DCA is Vodafone itself.

There in house collection team.

You are right I should have requested for a letter confirming the suspension, but i didn't know any better.

I just came into the country 2012 and haven't yet understood how things worked so i took his word for it.

Vodafone's In house team said they sent the debt out to an external agency,

but I never got any correspondence from them and it's back with vodafone now.

She said because it has already been sent out,

that it can't be reactivated again that I would need to take out a new contract after satisfying the default.

Can you imagine?

I am still trying to sort out a default, she says i should come and take out a new contract.

Would the representative be able to help?

It's really going to be bad if the default stays, cos I won't be able to open a graduate bank account

when I resumed my grad work in September.

This is really disheartening.

Here you go...this is how to get Lee on board with your query

Hi CAG members,

We thought it would be nice to introduce ourselves and to assure you all that our presence on CAG is with the very best of intentions.

vodafone UK has recently introduced a dedicated Web Relations Team which is keen to seek out customers who’re having difficulties with their accounts and feel that they have no other place to turn to than CAG and other consumer forums and blogs.

Naturally, it’s not possible for us to help directly with account specific queries on CAG and as such we would encourage those members who feel we can help them to contact us privately at [email protected] ne.co.uk quoting ‘WRT135 – CAG Forum’ in the subject line to ensure that it reaches the Web Relations Team.

When emailing us we would also ask that you either provide us with a link to your post or thread – if you’ve posted in another member’s thread please also provide your CAG username so that we can check what your query is.

Please note that there are no spaces in the e-mail address above, the forum pops a space in when it is posted here.

When you have done the above you will receive an automated reply with a reference number. Post that number in this thread so that Lee can track it all.

The rep probably would in some respect but i might add he may not be able to remove the default from your credit profile himself, but Vodafone may just get it sorted.

Only problem you have is that its a contract either way through and through. So the terms still remain.

Thanks fkofilee. The vodaphone(DCA) rep alluded to your bolded statement. She said exactly the same thing. That it doesn't matter i called in for a suspension or didn't get any letters. That the bottom line is that I have defaulted and as such I should set up a payment plan, satisfy the default and take out a new contract. Default satisfaction as I have been reading here, basically doesn't help me.

What can I really do? Should I appeal on compassionate grounds? Can you give me a realistic picture of what I can try and the options open to me to try and get a removal.

Nooooooooooooo!... The Collections team will say anything to get you to pay.

They have NO right to say that to you. I would say that Lee will look into it. If they have screwed up then i think you should be firm.

if Vodafone have infact fully ballsed this up then i would say that you may have a case for small claims! :)

They have incorrectly established a default when you have requested a break and they agreed :)

I will warn you though. Vodafone may have a 3 month suspension policy, for example and being gone for 4 months may have completely blown this to canns.

if you cancelled, or in anyway indicate dthat you did not want it to continue

then there should be no default.

if they did not carryout your request

and thus that caused the default

then it is unfair and will, I expect, be removed

as it is NOT a true account of how you [wanted] the account to be run.

let lee sort this.

there are numerous 'like' typethreads already

that have been resolved.

don't speculate

await lees actions.

The bolded is it.

But how can I show it?

I just read a thread now where lee confirms recorded conversations are kept for 3 months.

Also, How can I show i didn't get any notifications?
