just chipping in,I had an Iuc in april last year, they still aint got back to me and that was after one and a half hour grilling session regards my various other bank accounts so dont hold your breath!! ,Im certainly not contacting them they might have lost me in the system or something, fingers crossed!

Be careful, overpayment notices can go missing, and before you know it you're past the time limit for appeal.

You should let them know that you are still recovering from surgery and will be unable to make that date.

iv decided im not going, they have all my answers on tape. nothings changed. Im not going and being put though all the stress of it.

Hi, I understand how stressed you are and how difficult a situation this is for you especially with your health problems. A new IUC normally means they have new things to ask you about, they don't bring you in just to ask the same things again.

I can see how you're reaching the end of your ability to cope, but this is something that needs to be dealt with. If you don't deal with it, then you won't have the chance to explain if they have any evidence that suggests guilt - and a new IUC always suggests they have some other evidence. If you don't attend, then they can decide on the extra evidence alone and stop your benefits. This is the reality.

As far as I can see you have two options. You can contact them and explain that you're very unwell and the IUC will need to be postponed until you have recovered, give them a date after which you will be able to attend. Or another option you can suggest (I did this for one of my clients once) is a home visit for an IUC - you wouldn't have to go anywhere then, and they come to you which is less intimidating.

Mummytotwox has said they didn't show any evidence at the 1st IUC. If true I presume they withheld everything they have and therefore a 2nd IUC was always inevitable.

They've now got Mummytotwox's version of events & have had chance to obtain anything they had missed before showing their hand.

Entirely possible. But she still needs to attend the IUC.

It's completely terrifying that's for sure. A lot of us have had to go to them. I'm really not religious but I do think someone up there thinks you can cope with this through to the end. Stay strong. Don't ignore it, & hope it'll go away, it won't. Lottery winners that carry on claiming benefits don't go to prison. Been lots in the media lately about them.

Even if you have got yourself a job I am afraid if they are already investigating you this will not stop. You will still need to co-operate with them. My son works and he has had to attend an IUC and as he works he has to pay for the solicitor. I would assume if you are on a low income you would be able to claim tax credits while working though.

  • 3 months later...

im being investigated for "benefit fraud". they think i have a partner living with me even though i dont even have a partner.

anyway, its been going on about 4 months. and today i find out that someone is coming out to talk to my mentally and physically disabled dad. he can not talk, and doesnt understand things.

I think this is a new low, even for them. The carer has rang up, and said he can not do the interveiw but there insisting. I AM FUMING!!!!

im really not happy at all.

i want this to end, but surely if they thought it was such a big case, why havent they stopped my benefit?

im so mad its untrue! how long with this take to go to court?

If the interview goes ahead, then you should insist that the carer is present and that the interview is recorded by you.

If they do not agree, then put it all down in writing and make sure that you send them a copy

I will be surprised if this ever got to court.

If you can be with your Dad when they conduct their visit, then film it, seriously, it is your Dads private property, they will either agree to it being filmed, or they will clear off and leave well alone.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!
