Sent my LBA yest on 2 accounts. Had standard acknowledgment letter to the initial request saying looking into it etc. Now diaried for my MCOL!

Question is. Have opened new accounts online with Natwest but can only get step account & Barclays will only offer cash account. Neither of these have a switch card or cheque book. The Nat West has a solo card. I will probably be able to upgrade them though if I keep my nose clean which should be fairly easy if I get my £8500 back from the local bank via India. Ive noticed that several people have opened accounts with the Cooperative. Have those accounts been 1 without a switch card & cheque book also? If not it might be worth my applying to them

The Co-op account also has no cheque book, just a debit card like NatWest

I have today recd 2 letters from the HSBC. both addressed from the Sheffield branch but the envelope was franked Cardiff. The 1st says looking into the matters raised gives our ref......... the letter ends if you need to contact us please quote your ref which is ............ and gives a completely different ref!! Yet another example of their ineptitude.

The 2nd letter is the standard denial with yes you guessed it another totally different ref!

I just noticed that our timescales have been exactly the same with HSBC but we didn't receive any acknowledgement whatsoever from our request - no denial, no anything.

 

Also wanted to ask is your account in Cardiff? Ours is but I wrote to the head office in London.

 

Does anyone know if this is usual too? I know that they received the first letter and the second one was received today

 

Sorry for all the questions, just wondering about it all really and hoping ours hasn't been filed in the round filing bin up in HSBC somewhere

No tigerpants my account is not in Cardiff its my local branch. I just sent the letters to David Lewis in London. The replies had Sheffield on the letterhead but the envelopes had the Cardiff address on the back. Im sure its usual not to get any response as I have nly had a reply to 1 of the accounts I am claiming for yet both letters were sent in the same envelope. On a count down now to issue day

I received offer in full settlement today from DG. I'm over the moon. Anyone know how long they take to pay up? i need to start xmas shopping (after donating to CAG) that is!
