Had an RTA on Sunday. I will be contending that fault lies with the other party. If I go through insurance and my insurance company finds that fault lies with me do I automatically loose my NCB? Or do I only loose my NCB if I proceed with the claim after that point?

Thanks! :)

I have no legal qualifications whatsoever, so please check any input I have for accuracy. And please correct me if you disagree!

You would lose 2 years NCD per paid out claim on your policy.

If the third party admits responsibility, it may be easier to go via the third parties Insurers. If you claim directly against the third party, there is no excess to pay. A claim for damage to your own car under your own policy, would mean that you have an excess to pay, which you then will have to try to claim back off the third party.

We could do with some help from you.

WHat if you have protected no claims?

Then you won't lose any NCD, unless you have exceeded the claims frequency detailed in the policy wording.
