They offered me a cash advance I made it very clear I don't need to the money it's purely for credit rebuild purposes.

Hopefully after year one of my credit rebuild I can chop up the vanquis card and apply for a different card, but it really won't make any difference what the interest rate is.

It feels brilliant I thought I'd never get another chance, I think my credit limit will be low as the only offered me a £100 cash advance. He said the card will be with me by next week so no idea why he'd think I'd want or need a cash advance before then.

Yes, good stuff, keep us updated with your progress.

The limit will more than likely be between £200 and £400, let us know when you do :)

I know the lowest is £150, if my interest rate is so high I'm expecting the £150 but I'll let you know once I do.

I don't know why he couldn't just tell me my limit on the phone cos he probably had it set out in front of him

Have they increased your credit score? In October mines was 10 points shy of very good, I'm now on 751 due to three credit searches so it's now on fair.

Although the score doesnt really mean anything I'd like it to creep back up to good then very good, it was sitting on good due to no credit searches in over a year and zero debt but I wasn't on the electrol roll.

I don't plan on applying for anymore credit cards, vanquis and cash plus credit builder will do me for a year. My goal is to have perfect credit reports,my other halfs credit is ruined due to her ex so it's all on me

Your going the right way about getting things sorted, my score on Experian is 811 (fair), it was 836 in early september then dropped to 775 for some reason.

I get 1/5 on Noodle but I'd trust that as far as I could throw it.

I tried to see noodle they couldn't let me see as they couldn't verify I am who I say I am, call credit took £12.99 off me for me to see my report but then they couldn't show me my report because they couldn't verify me so I paid £12.99 for nothing which is extremely annoying.

Equifax is very poor, all because I'm not on the electrol roll and I have no settled accounts so to rate me very poor for that is rediculous

Score on Experian just went up to 846 (fair) because I have fewer recently opened credit accounts :)

How long I'd it take to drop off? My score went from 891 to 751 because I had three searches in one month, which is a bit harsh seeing as I was accepted for one of the searches.

I had 28 linked addresses, experian had me linked to someone else from the same town with the same name. Apparently according to experian I was living in stoke on trent even though I've never even been there, they fixed it and I'm not linked to three address.

I've had 23 searches in the last 12 months only three were for credit that was within the last month. I know once the recent searches drop off it'll put my rating up to very good, by the time they drop off I should have three months of repaid credit card bills on my file.

The two cards I have are 5 months old, I think my score may go up as Barclaycard have been slow in updating my file, I'm due them nowt, yet states on my file £388 due.

I have 24 searches about half of them made by Experian.

I'm not sure how they work it, I do have one search from Santander my Bank who offered me a credit card with a £1,400.00 limit which I accepted, that was last month but it does not show on my file.

Regarding my Experian searches: unrecorded enquiries, identity verification checks and credit report applications are shown on your copy of your report but are not seen by lenders and are not taken into account when making credit decisions.

Hello

Just to seek some final clarification,

I have barred debt with black horse and capital one.

I know the debt is no longer enforceable and has been wiped from my records

Does the debt stay on the Lloyds groups records and capital ones?

I just want to know if I should avoid these groups at all costs in case the computer will still say no,

I wouldnt blame them.

Or is it a case that they legally have to remove all trace of the debt.

It's just because Lloyds own so much and I don't want to be wasting my time,

for example my credit report was good with no debt

I applied for a Halifax current account I was refused instantly.

I've used their card cash basic card for over ten years,

I applied for a vanquis credit card and got it.

Just concerns me Halifax turned me down based on the statue barred debt I had with black horse,

either that or it was due to not being on the electrol roll

but I can't see it being because of that if I have a card cash account at my current address and have done for ten years

For a new account that could have a credit facility (that is overdraft, so anything other than a Cardcash or Easycash account),

they will run an identity check search at the CRAs.

So it is your not being on the Electoral Roll at your current address that will have scuppered you.

Actually I have realised later that I was wrong in what I typed.

For the non-credit facility accounts they will (or at least they used to) do the identity check search.

For an account with credit facilities (certainly for your first such account with them) they will do a full search.

Either way you will have failed because of the Electoral Roll issue.

I have no idea how closely entwined the Black Horse IT systems are with the rest of LBG,

but if the connection exists it is quite possible they will refuse to have any more dealings with you.

Just because the debt is statute barred doesn't mean the bank has to forget about it.

They can still politely ask you for it, you just as politely tell them to go away.

(Note the situation is different in Scotland where I believe the debt is legally extinguished after 5 years.)

Thanks, well luckily LBG has sold off the tsb part but they still own most of the main stream banks .

I'll just avoid anyhting to do with LBG, doesn't leave me with many options living in a small village all the local banks belong to LBG

Card arrived with a £250 limit, I called to activate it and wow they don't half try and sell you their payment protection plan which I declined but it might be worth getting just in case.

I was expecting a limit of £150 but according to the information I've been sent with the card it could be up to £3000 within a year

Santander have just added the Credit Card to my file, score went up to 883 (Good) :)

3 Positve factors......

The usage of your available credit indicates a lower risk

The age of your accounts indicates lenders are likely to view you as lower risk

You have a significant number of successfully settled credit accounts

Taken some time but I'm happy with that.

My experian was at 881 before with no credit at all now at 751 after those three searches.

So I'm expecting to to be at very good after Feb next year.

I'm just happy I'm back on the rite track, I know loads of people hate vanquis but I can't see it being a problem I'm grateful they've gave me a chance and I'll not be stupid enough to use it and not pay it off in full. Well not that stupid again lol

Ill update next Feb

I have a Halifax, rbs that are local. I live in the middle of nowhwere, theres around 1500 people in the town I live in.

Theres certainly no local banks other than those i have mentioned, braclays is a half hour drive away.

All the big banks are near the cities and I live about an hours drive away from both of the nearest cities, I'm in central Scotland
