Advice needed please - PCN Box Junction London Road/Armfield Crescent

Hello All,

 

I would very much appreciate some advice on the best way to appeal the pcn I received. I can access 5 still pictures but not the video evidence.

 

Contravention code is 31J.

 

I was on my way to collect my children from school so I drive this route twice a day 5days a week. It's the first time I have ever received a ticket for a box junction.

 

There are some pedestrian led traffic lights not far off the yellow box junction and I think this is what made the car stop in front of me, as I would have not driven if the traffic had stopped in front - as you can see from the first picture.

 

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

sadly that's the correct code for stopping in a yellow box jnc.

 

if your exit was not clear, when you entered the box cant see how you can ever appeal.

But it appears that I only stopped for maximum 10 seconds, could I appeal based on the length of time spent in the box?

31j is 'stopped' theres no time limit.

Looks bang to rights to me also. The Highway code gives good advice on box junctions and that is you shouldn't enter unless you can exit the other side, entering and trusting the person in front is not going to stop leaving you stranded in the box is just not worth the gamble. Some adjudicators have defined 'stopped' as being longer than 5 seconds so 10 seconds is double that guidance.

Really interesting to know, maybe you could post a few PCNs issued after being stopped just 1 second to prove your point??
