    • well we cant help you without information. we need to SEE the org TfL Letter and your reply. we also need to see the SJPN court forms upon WHAT you are ACTUALLY charged with and if there is a TIC List requiring your signature next to each journey and how many journey's are on the list? scan these upto ONE mass PDF read upload CAREFULLY. if your 'lie' of lost card is included in the court docs within a written statements , i can't see you escaping a criminal conviction...sorry. dx
    • thanks for the fuller story now... sadly on most assumptions you are wrong. i cant see you going anywhere with this . the file can appear twice on your file, but doesn't hurt you twice. OC's are not obliged to default a debt before sale (though if they dont - it renders the debt useless to a debt buyer) . thus Lowell just left it and in 2021 their entry fell off due to 6yrs of no reporting. lowell didn't 'write it off' its an automated CRA File process . The old EE entry was held on your file because of the AP markers, they are a real bugbear to any account and if its never defaulted can cause an account to show for 12yrs on cra files regardless to any balance or not. in your case its sadly somewhat immaterial that EE erroneously used AP, it appears it didn't actually harm you. you cleared the EE entry bal by paying £69 in 2022, that wouldn't have changed anything really. the AP markers held it on your file. so either EE now remove it or you await it's natural drop off 6yrs from the last AP mark.
    • So my CPR request has come back from Overdales, the same multipage 29 page agreement that came back via the CCA, plus notice of assignment. However no Default notice, or Statement. They just confirm that they have raised a request for a copy of each,.

    • Hello,

On 15/1/24 booked appointment with Big Motoring World (BMW) to view a mini on 17/1/24 at 8pm at their Enfield dealership.

Car was dirty and test drive was two circuits of roundabout on entry to the showroom.  Was p/x my car and rushed by sales exec and a manager into buying the mini and a 3yr warranty that night, sale all wrapped up by 10pm.  They strongly advised me taking warranty out on car that age (2017) and confirmed it was honoured at over 500 UK registered garages.

The next day, 18/1/24 noticed amber engine warning light on dashboard , immediately phoned BMW aftercare team to ask for it to be investigated asap at nearest garage to me. After 15 mins on hold was told only their 5 service centres across the UK can deal with car issues with earliest date for inspection in March ! Said I’m not happy with that given what sales team advised or driving car. Told an amber warning light only advisory so to drive with caution and call back when light goes red.

I’m not happy to do this, drive the car or with the after care experience (a sign of further stresses to come) so want a refund and to return the car asap.

Please can you advise what I need to do today to get this done.

      Many thanks

    • We have finally managed to obtain the transcript of this case.

The judge's reasoning is very useful and will certainly be helpful in any other cases relating to third-party rights where the customer has contracted with the courier company by using a broker.
This is generally speaking the problem with using PackLink who are domiciled in Spain and very conveniently out of reach of the British justice system.

Frankly I don't think that is any accident.

One of the points that the judge made was that the customers contract with the broker specifically refers to the courier – and it is clear that the courier knows that they are acting for a third party. There is no need to name the third party. They just have to be recognisably part of a class of person – such as a sender or a recipient of the parcel.

Please note that a recent case against UPS failed on exactly the same issue with the judge held that the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 did not apply.

We will be getting that transcript very soon. We will look at it and we will understand how the judge made such catastrophic mistakes. It was a very poor judgement.
We will be recommending that people do include this adverse judgement in their bundle so that when they go to county court the judge will see both sides and see the arguments against this adverse judgement.
Also, we will be to demonstrate to the judge that we are fair-minded and that we don't mind bringing everything to the attention of the judge even if it is against our own interests.
      This is good ethical practice.

It would be very nice if the parcel delivery companies – including EVRi – practised this kind of thing as well.

I want to buy a tablet for my daughter for Xmas but am getting a bit lost with the myriad of options available.

She would probably use it to chat/check emails/surf on the go plus as a portable store for course work etc to save lugging a laptop around. She currently uses Windows 7 on her lap top and has an android phone.

I was planning on something around the £300 mark but having just browsed on Amazon I might need to revise that upwards.

Can someone explain in plain English the relative advantages of the various operating systems and wifi/3G etc?

Thanks!

The best one out right now for pure value for money is one of the android ones. Ill have to look up the name.

Ipads are good too but they are very overpriced for what they are. Almost double the cost of others with the same spec.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks

The majority of tablets do the pretty much the same thing anyway. With ipads and the like, you're paying for the name. I only have one because I personally find it to be more accessible for my needs.

I second Android. I have one last year and it was ok. I assume that they've got much better since then.

You may also want to look at the size of the tablet screen. There's a few which have detachable keyboards. I've not used one of these; so can't comment on what they're like.

If your daughter gets a Windows 7 tablet, she should be able to transfer documents between her tablet and computer. I am not sure how this would work if her tablet was Android,

I have an iPad too - for the same reason. I need access to Apple specific software BUT for most people it's unlikely to make much of a difference although the operating system is better (IMO).

Tesco have a new tablet coming to market that looks interesting, only £130 too.

Wifi: Will need to connect to a wireless broadband internet network

3g: connects to mobile phone networks - may cost a lot if used a great deal.

I recently bought a Gemini Joytab and (although it was refurbished) works well. I is at the cheaper end of the market but you buy what you can afford.

It has a dual core processor (rockchip), 16GB of memeory, 1GB RAM and bluetooth (no GPS). I paid £90 whilst a new model is around £150

This model is pre rooted (allowing you to modify the android and remove the useless apps) and streaming is almost perfect (dependent on internet speed)

The seller for me was the cover, this protects the screen and is a bluetooth keyboard which uses the same charger as the tablet. Quite light and the muti-touch capacitive screen is simple to use.

Whatever you choose, don't get anything with a resistive screen. They are crap

She doesn't know - it's a surprise because the piece of c**p she bought herself cheap on the internet broke fairly quickly but of course the seller has disappeared ....

Thanks for all the info - I think I'm going for wifi rather than 3g cos of usage cost and using the same operating system as her laptop would make sense I suppose.

  • 4 weeks later...

How about the Asus Google Nexus range, even the new series should be under £300, only issue with these is the storage capacity is not expandable, only up to 32gb.

Have a look at ebuyer.com they are a good online retailer, almost all there products come with a warranty, so you can return it if not happy with it. They got the white iPad mini for £329, what size are you after?

If the size of screen isn't an issue I would recommend looking at the Nexus 7 range.

You can now pick up the older 1st gen models for £140 and the newer models for £199.

I have had both version of the Nexus 7 and the 2nd gen is far better and does everything

I ask of it without laggy response times, Will do everything your daughter requires from a tablet.

The limited storage on the Nexus 7 range is easily solved with a USB stick and USB OTG Cable, Lets the Nexus 7

see the memory stick connected and read/write to it.

I found a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 at a really good price so opted for that. I'm absolutely sure she'll be thrilled with it and it's the same make as her phone so hopefully will not be too unfamiliar.

I think even as as Apple lover, deviationist and Developer that even I admit that iPads are OTT. But at the end of the day it's also up to you... Droid tablets have a FAR wider (in terms of background) set of users, so they're easy to find for help or just randomly bump into and say 'hey wow you've got one too'. Apple, has tended to be a bit of an Elitist lot and still are... Even as a developer myself with quite a bit of experience its bl**dy hard stopping one (even in the forums) and asking for a pointer without a 'I BIG AM' attitude.

Source: YEARS of experience LOL

Why do it do it? Because I got sick of craping under desks to fiddle with PCI cards or connectors

lol :D

I'd say, first choice, go Droid, when your comfy with droids and other brands and/or OS's then move to Apple; be warned, even the teens (20 years in generations below me) look down on me :D The only upper hand is that I can afford the upper hand xD

Only criticism I have of android devices, is watch what you get. There are LOADS of knockoff makes out there, on Amazon you can get £40 specials, 7-10 inch specials that work well, but have shoddy ratings of being dead within a week or arriving broken.

Rather spend a tad more on something more reputable. Amazon.com or play.com are good online indicators for such devices, but I'd advise use brand-names like Samsung etc... first, weigh their amazon +5 star vs 1 star ratings up vs [price to other brands... There's loads out there...
