Hi Guys,

Would appreciate your help on this one. I've been recently hit with a request for repayment of an overpayment dating back to 2005. Despite repeated requests, the HMRC still haven't informed me why they want the repayment from me and what it was for.

Can they do this? Surely I deserve to know why they are putting bills through my door? They also haven't replied for 3 months now and I have today received a letter from a debt collectors.

Urgent help required please!

Thanks guys

on hmrc, there is option to complain, i suggest write a complain or appeal that u wish to know , why u have to pay and how it accumulated. Only by knowing the detail, one can find out if they r demanding right money and if their calculation is correct or another blunder from them.

Moreover, u can phone or email them to get your SAR , which will give u a lot of information they keep about you in their record, it might help you.
