DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

The new financial markets regulator said that the affected customers could expect to receive letters from CPP from 29 August 2013, explaining how to claim compensation.

Ok, so the FCA is requiring the Banks involved to write to their customers. The FSA required the same banks to write to PPI victims as well, we have only seen a handful of customers mention they have been contacted regarding that.

Will the destruction policy of some banks mean that some customers wont be advised because their records have been destroyed ?

  • 3 weeks later...

I have received a letter this morning from CPP direct (with a unique Reference number and policy number) suggesting I 'may' have used their services, and that I need do nothing now.

The foot of the letter gives a number of possible reasons why they have written, all to do with card protection, followed by a 'scheme of arrangement' over potential compensation payout.

Should I heed their advice to do nothing, or start trawling back through a decade of old card applications, many of which will have been thrown out during two house moves, or deemed more useful to start the wood-stove on cold evenings ?

I've got the asme

so has the mrs.

I know ours are well pre 2005

so no dice I expect.

pers i'm gonna wait.

you could start looking.

but as the letter is just a 'heads up'

I certainly cant tell which of my cards it is with

that they are talking about

I know I've 3 with it

and the mrs has 2

as they are not being 'specific' upon what card it is

I cant see we can do anything yet?

If you bought a CPP policy, whether direct or via a bank, in 2005 or later, you will soon get a series of letters outlining the plan.

The first letter sent around the end of August merely has information about the refund scheme.

The second letter, sent in the autumn, is the important one.

Oddly, this will ask you to vote for the scheme.

A majority will have to vote in favour of the scheme for it to happen. The High Court will then be asked to approve it.

The FCA says: "Of the customers who vote, a majority will need to vote in favour of the scheme for this to happen." In other words, if 95% of people don't bother to vote, but the 5% who do vote more in favour than against, then it is approved.

I suspect they are hoping that apathy will play a part and people don't respond !

Does anyone know what occurs if you've since moved? I think I was sold a policy through a CC about 3 years ago, but i've since moved and closed that account down.

Currently arguing with:

  • Vanquis (Fee's reclaim)
  • Capital One (Fee's reclaim)
  • JCP Training Provider: (Reported to the DWP and MPs)

If you've moved address in the time that you've had either of the CPP products, then you'll need to get in contact with it so it has the correct details for you.

You can call CPP free on 08000 83 43 93, or you can write to:

Scheme Processing Services Limited

for ref

the letters to my mrs came to where she is now

this is two addresses and 15yrs down the line from when she had the card.

so like the PPI letters

it appears they are taking 'reasonable' steps to find current addresses

I would assume via your CRA file?

Lovely, thanks. I shall get a letter off to them just to be on the safe side. I may have evidence of the policy through some SAR's that I sent recently actually - so I may hold off as I should receive a response within the next seven days.

I would assume, and hope so, alas I don't have much trust to be quite honest! It's interesting that you've said that though, as I would've expected to have received one now then. I may just fire them a letter to be on the safe side - pending the results of checking the above SAR.

Received a letter yesterday about CPP, I have had 7 different addresses both UK and abroad over the last 14 yrs, mine was on an old Lloyds account from the late 90's.

Could they finally be doing half a proper job :)
