Hi all,

Just about to finish my 2 years on the Work Programme and have received a letter from JCP

for an interview next week.

They have asked me to bring in my CV which I am slightly worried about due to the fact I have a few jobs I have done on there which were not the best, factory work, packing etc..

I feel that if I take it in without redacting this info I will be made to take any crappy job to get me off the books, We could not survive on a zero hours cleaning or factory job.

Can I redact any information that I don't want them to see/know about?

Regards

George

One of three ways of tackling this:

Have a tactical lapse of memory and forget to take it with you.

Ask point blank on what legal basis they require a copy of personal information that has nothing to do with processing of your JSA claim - Decline to hand over a copy until such time as the chapter & verse of the specific legislation is quoted.

Blank out any information you do not wish to reveal and edit company names/addresses - Initials and postcodes would suffice.

If the Job Centre tell you that they are now employment brokers and intend to distribute your CV to all and sundry, ask if they have your consent and point out that they have never undertaken this task in the past.

I have a CV that gives the minimum of job description, company initials and the year worked going back ten years. It also contains a statement to the effect that redistribution and/or editing requires written informed consent on a case by case basis. This has worked for WP providers in the past.

Cheers for the info Mr.P.

Will take a redacted copy and hold off showing it unless pushed.

Have just found a good leaflet at one of the sites, That states they have no rights to my CV so

will just see what happens.

Good point about CV's - be careful what you put as, just like the WP, the JC will be looking to pressure people onto any job which is even vaguely covered by their CV.

Though my background is in admin, I did a bit of voluntary work for a charity shop and while it did involve some shopwork, I've made sure my CV states that I only did admin work while there, or else they'll have me applying for every shop/customer service job going!!

Don't give 'em anything they can use against you..especially a truthful CV :)

Pardon me for injecting a little levity into the serious matter being discussed here. What are all those greedy, idiot ex-bankers who lost countless squillions, and corrupt ex-politicians who claimed super-lavish expenses putting into their own CVs?

One has to wonder.
