Afternoon All,

I've got my credit file this afternoon and discovered a default by Cash Choice UK.

I have a payday loan with them in 2010 and agreed a repayment plan which they took by debit card before stopping. I havent heard anything since, until finding a default for an outstanding amount of £430.00.

I'm trying to write to them to try object and get the default removed but cant find the address.

Does anyone have the address and have anyone got any advice/tips of anything i can add to my compliant to give it a push?

What would be the reason for removal?

Exactly the same thing has just happened to me, only the loan was repaid in 2010. No default notice was served at the time.

What is the date of entry on the default? If the loan is paid off and they added it on a considerable time afterwards, you have cause for formal complaints.

The date is 24/11/2010 but it didn't appear on my credit file until 19/05/2013.

So your debt was fully paid, and they entered a default years afterwards? If so, then you need to file a dispute with the credit record agencies and write a full complaint to the PDL's data controller.

As cash choice were taking the money off my debt card each month I assumed when they stopped the account was paid but according to the credit file this isn't the case...

I haven't had any letters or notice of default to tell me I owed any outstanding money!

It's only on my experian file and that agency won't act as middle man for complaints (they said I have to go direct to Cash Choice) but struggling to located an address that I'm sure is them!

For information the contact on the credit file entry directs you to the UKLenders Alliance who after numerous emails finally told me that the loans was settled and they had no record of a default.

You can place a dispute note alongside the entry. I've done it a few times myself.

Renegadeimp, did you notice if it hindered your credit file?

I put a dispute notice on a few years ago, and found it stopped me getting any kind of credit (was trying to get broadband at the time).

If a default is recorded, then it will be very hard to get credit. If you add a notice against it and the CRA agrees and authorises it, then it lessens the impact a minute amount. However, in your case, you really need to find out if the default was valid. But on the other side, if it was added years afterwards ( even with an old date of default), then you can contest it as unfair.

Get all the info you can first, and then challenge it. You say you paid using your bank card, go to your bank and get historical statements so you can match up all the payments.

Haven't done so yet. It is my experian file as well not on Noodle/CallCredit. I am not sure of the relevance but about the same time I got a statement from MEM (PayDay UK) for an account settlled in 2010 that they said I had requested ( I hadn't).
