I just received a Personal Health Report from Blue Crest Health Screening following a medical with them.

The report stated I was very overweight had a Body Mass Index of 40.5 (which is high)

and blood pressure as stage 2 hypertension 189/101

but the lung fuction of a 22 year old?

Surprisingly they stated I had a zero risk of heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years.

I couldn't believe that

I read the report in detail and found they listed me as 5'4 instead of 6'1

which of course increases my BMI and risk ratio.

I called Blue Crest immediately 7 days ago

6 days ago emailed the managing director Peter Blencowe on the email address he gave on the brochure asking for feedback.

In the absence of a response

I called three more times and was given the name and number of Lisa

who apparently deals with customer complaints on 01903 253 173.

Its an answerphone and despite leaving three messages she has not responded.

The only contact I have had from Blucrest was from their accounts department who stated I owed them £29 .

I insisted I had paid in full and on checking my receipt number they agreed I had paid in full.

The issue is,

this personal health company cant even get their payment process accurate,

they have sent me someone else's report or they can't take and record measurement properly.

There are two issues,

if I believed their report which stated I had a zero risk of heart attack or stroke

I could have been at extremely high of death risk considering the data listed above.

What is even worse is that after 7 days they have not returned any communication or attempted to put things right.

Should everyone who has had one of these medicals revisit the results and double check the results and advice ?

Hi Welcome to CAG,

If you believe that the health report is flawed, as it appears to be from what you say, your way forward is to make a FORMAL COMPLAINT to Blencowe by recorded/signed for delivery, the company must then answer your complaint within 56 days.

Was the examination carried out by a qualified medical practitioner or a nurse specialist?

A question of competence to practice arises here imo, recording simple data wrongly leading to a suspect analysis of your state of health needs investigation.

Any Letters I Draft are N0T approved by CAG and no personal liability is accepted.

I have this morning just received a letter from Blue Crest.

They have acknowledged that a technical fault and administration error were the reasons for my report being wrong,

They state their operations manager "Will speak to the Health Screening Team to make sure this doesn't happen again in the future"

I personally think speaking to a couple of nurses was a little light on operational protocol and that a full investigation and change in protocols and monitoring was required as is perhaps the replacement of the operational director who thinks words can influence rigid methodology.

Does this make you feel glowing and comfortable if you had a previous screening?

The issue is, I made 5 phone calls one email and had to wait for a letter a week later when a mistake of this magnitude coupled to my obvious concerns should have been resolved immediately by a courtesy phone call or email return.

Blue Crest have offered me a FREE screening to compensate me.

That isn't compensation at all and they seem to ignore the issues of my disruption, need to fast, day off work, and the compensation is actually an offer to do it properly the next time. They have thrown in a free Thyroid test too.

Does anyone think this event should be looked into by the medical council or government agency after all if we have so many mistakes in my report which could have resulted in my death from over confidence in my health isn't this likely to have occurred in someone else's appraisal too?

I received an invitation for a health screening from this company myself. I didn't have much faith in it when it said it was to be held at the local Hilton Hotel. Purleeease!!

What do you want to get out of this? If you feel that you need a thyroid test then I suggest you ask your GP and you can get it done for free, and I'm sure your GP can advise you if you have any other concerns. So personally I'd tell them that I don't want any more of their tests and just want my money back, perhaps along with any costs incurred as a result of your dealings with them.

I assume that they must be registered somehow. You could always ask them about this, or try the GMC. Might be worth contacting Trading Standards too.

They used to be called BUTTERCUP HEALTH LIMITED until last December.

It's a Canadian company

96 Mowat Ave

Toronto, ON M6K 3M1

CA

Yeah and guess what!

the staff are non clinical mainly,

they look like nurses but they are not.

one of the girls used to work in a chip shop!

they just take anyone on.

they have got one nurse on the staff and they are owned by a marketing company.

i was told by someone who worked there that office staff work out the results!!!

can you believe it!!

I saw this and thought I should check my results too. Thankfully mine was all correct and I am still glad I went and got tested with these guys, I thought it was good value for money compared to BUPA.

Unfortunately, the difference is that with BUPA you are seen by properly qualified medical professionals and with bluecrest, the majority of the staff you encounter, hold NO REAL medical qualifications what-so-ever.

You could'nt be more right, would you go to the local chip shop for an ECG? of coarse not! why go to a hotel, then pay out good money for a non medically/clinically trained person to do exactly that give you a 4 limb ECG, its not even a normal 6 lead!

I was interested to read the various comments by members about Bluecrest Health Screening'.

I have been a member of this organisation insofaras having an Annual screening at various locations.

I started these screenings in 2007 when this company was known as 'Life Line Sceening'.

These reports on mine and my partners health have proved very useful as additional information for our doctors.

The information/results gathered ar these screenings was presumably passed on to the Companies headquarters where qualified medical personnel read and based their findings about these readings and this was forwarde in their report to individuals.

I have always been satisfied although the £100 plus cost was I felt a lot to pat for a 20/30 minute consultation.

However these tests and results have highlighted certain areas where our health was deteriorating and enabled our doctors to counteract the problem.

I was offered a 20 minute healthcheck at my doctors and went a couple of weeks ago.

I'm very happy with the cost of zero, that it was conducted by proper health professionals, that a potential problem was highlighted that can now be addressed, and put my mind at rest that everything else is as it should be.

Had an invite for screening a couple of weeks ago - usual discount sort of offer £129 instead of £270. Was considering it until I looked at the date: Monday 31 May 2016. If they can't get that right then ...............

Just got the invitation through the post. £129 sounds reasonable but I was suspicious as to how good this could be and clearly they cannot be using trained medical staff to do the sampling at that price. The cost of the tests would likely cost that much if they are done properly. Then they have to hire the room at a hotel as well. Reading the comments on this website confirmed to throw it in the bin.
