Hi there,

Had a student account now for a couple of years and like most students, I have regularly exceeded my limit and thus prompting the bank to levy charges. I have prepared all my neccessary letters to send off to them but I have just one concern before I go ahead with it. My overdraft is currently with them at £1000, so what do you think the chances are of them trying to removing my overdraft facility after I make this claim? Can this do this is what I'm trying to say I guess.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe, do you know how much of the overdraft will be covered by your charges? If you are anything like my son when he was a student, I suspect quite a big chunk, probably paid off at reular intervals from your student loan.

They cannot do anything simply on the basis of you asking for your statements so I would get them, have a look how much they owe you then decide wether you can afford to have the overdraft withdrawn. You could very well be pleasantly surprised and remove a big chunk of your debt, even without the overdraft you may much better off, after all, its money you didn't think you would see again!
