Hypozincemia can also be associated with malabsorption, diarrhea, acrodermatitis enteropathica, chronic liver disease, chronic renal disease, sickle-cell disease, diabetes, malignancy, pyroluria, and other chronic illnesses

[With acknowledgement to Messrs "Wikipedia", and apologies for the fact that they cannot spell "The Squits", I can't, either]

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Forum, from the foregoing, you may have realised that I have come into contact with something called "Zinc" - "Zinc Collections" of Glasgow, in fact.

Perhaps the compiler of the definitions above, should also have included, "Lack of brain function".

I've been dealing with a debt for well over twelve months on behalf of a friend, the debt is with Barclays, they have not yet produced a CCA.

I might write in this thread about them in a few weeks time, another shambles, they cannot even decide what the amount of the debt is, I have been quoted at least three amounts, differing by £500!

In February, I received a call on my telephone answering service from "Zinc Deficiency", or " Hypozincemia", of Glasgow, asking that my friend call them.

She doesn't live here, but Barclays have been asked to send all correspondence to this address, care of me, [and that only correspondence will be accepted] - she sent them that request in 2010, and they have stuck to it, about the only thing they've managed to get right!

Enter "Zinc Deficiency", with their phone call - I ignored it, and several others, until one day I intercepted one.

I told the operator that my friend would not be contacting them, and that this was my private phone number, and to delete it from their system - they must have obtained it from my name and address, I'm not ex-directory.

They agreed to delete it, and I had no more calls - for seven days - then they started again - I had one during the afternoon - I told the woman that this was my private phone number, and Mrs X does not live here, but correspondence only should be sent here, C/O me.

Two hours later - another call, from a man this time!

I went a bit hairless - I haven't got much anyway.

Then I sent them an SAR, addressed to their Data Controller, plus a £10 cheque drawn on one of my accounts, to ask them for all the information they have on me, especially transcripts of telephone conversations, with me, I modified the standard "CAG" template, to suit the occasion.

They signed for the SAR the day after it was sent, two days later they cashed my cheque, and this was over 45 days ago - I've now sent a letter to their Compliance Manager.

What happens now I have written unsuccessfully to the two people that one can reasonably expect to be capable of reading simple English?

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

OK DX, thanks for that advice, a letter will be typed tomorrow, and posted first thing on Tuesday.

I shall keep the CAG community informed.

And a reply from the ICO's office today, with a case number!

They have requested a copy of the SAR that I sent to Zinc, proof of delivery, and the reply that I had from Glasgow - I am able to provide all of those, and I will, this week, I even have the name of the person who signed for it.

And even before I've got stuff photocopied, and collected together, another one from "Thick as Zinc"!

It's addressed to my friend, and states that they they have been through their correspondence and cannot locate an SAR request by me, and that they have put the £10.00 [my SAR payment] into her account!

The SAR request was the letter that was with the cheque, the one that they cannot locate, [signed for on 5th March, and I have the name of the person that signed, too] - isn't this fraud on their part?
