    • No u Unfortunatley I do not know who they were or how I might find out. the only details of the debt I have find just  mention debt managers.
    • Don't worry, Simple Simon of VCS/Excel is very well known to the forum, as indeed are his defeats, of which he notched up another brace only last week.   There is time to 5 February and as dx says, the defence need only be very short.  Get CPR off today and upload the correspondence in PDF when you can.  Just follow our upload guide.   A few questions.   1.  Briefly, what went on, how did your wife get three tickets?   2.  Is the person they are suing also the same person who was driving on the day?   3.  Did she receive a Letter Before Claim/Letter Before Action?   4.  Is this car park local to you?  If so it would be very useful to see pix of the signage.  You heavily hint that Simple Simon has mixed up Excel with VCS, and this has been fatal to him in court many times.
    • A quick Q; in the CPR 31.14 request which I’m amending to fit the particulars of their claim,  is it worth wording the request in point 1;   1. The contract between VEHICLE CONTROL SERVICES and the landowner that assigns the right to enter into contracts with the public and make claims in their own name. OR land registry details confirming VEHICLE CONTROL SERVICES as private land owner.    Asking this because their claim is worded ‘.The PCN(s) was issued on private land owned or managed by C.’
    • Is the monthly repayment agreement that you have accompanied by interest? Or have they decided to freeze the interest on it?
    • Hi all, good to see a well used forum on all subjects...I don't think this will be too common.   So basically I got a £10 credit for Casimba Casino and turned it into £1045, I have used the same debit card for the past 12 months, I came to withdraw and sent it to that card when I used the withdraw procedure.   After 9 days it wasn't in my bank so their support finally tell me they sent it to a credit card I haven't used in over years, one I had defaulted on when I lost my job! I am paying it off in a monthly agreement.   But this Casino sent them the £1045, I got in touch today and said that shouldn't have been sent, its Vanquis and they said they will ring tomorrow on a decision whether they will send it back, I don't think they will but any ideas how I can persuade them otherwise, this money will be a great help as I struggle to find a job in these times.

    • Hi @BankFodder
Sorry for only updating you now, but after your guidance with submitting the claim it was pretty straight forward and I didn't want to unnecessarily waste your time. Especially with this guide you wrote here, so many thanks for that
So I issued the claim on day 15 and they requested more time to respond.
They took until the last day to respond and denied the claim, unsurprisingly saying my contract was with Packlink and not with them.

I opted for mediation, and it played out very similarly to other people's experiences.

In the first call I outlined my case, and I referred to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 as the reason to why I do in fact have a contract with them.

In the second call the mediator came back with an offer of the full amount of the phone and postage £146.93, but not the court costs. I said I was not willing to accept this and the mediator came across as a bit irritated that I would not accept this and said I should be flexible. I insisted that the law was on my side and I was willing to take them to court. The mediator went back to Hermes with what I said.

In the third call the mediator said that they would offer the full amount. However, he said that Hermes still thought that I should have taken the case against Packlink instead, and that they would try to recover the court costs themselves from Packlink.

To be fair to them, if Packlink wasn't based in Spain I would've made the claim against them instead. But since they are overseas and the law lets me take action against Hermes directly, it's the best way of trying to recover the money.

So this is a great win. Thank you so much for your help and all of the resources available on this site. It has helped me so much especially as someone who does not know anything about making money claims.

Many thanks, stay safe and have a good Christmas!

I have been with brighthouse for about 8 years,

and i have had no problems at all.

When i could not make payment i called my local store and explained.

I was given a commitment,

for the next week,

sure i had to make up the two weeks,

but i kept the deal.

I have had to do this a few times,

and not once have i had bad attitude from any of the staff.

Any goods i have had have worked perfectly,

a sofa had to have a repair done,

again this was no problem,

i did have to wait a few weeks for an upholsterer,

but so what??

I always think if you are upfront with people it helps a lot,

and if you miss payments without contacting them,

of course they will hassle you.

I read some threads from 5 years back,

and i have to say respect is a two way street.

Sure there is high interest etc,

but we people on low incomes dont have much choice except Brighthouse if we need stuff:!::|

but if you actually look at the amount you have paid

and for the compulsory 'extras' like the insurances that are not required

you could have paid for each item several times from new by now.

Please could you tell me where your Brighthouse store is so I can relocate to that town and move my account across? Lol I'm happy that your experience with the staff has been a pleasant one but this is not the case for many brighthouse customers across the country, even when they are upfront and honest, unfortunately the bh staff that I have had dealings don't share this mutual respect thing. Stores like bh, perfect home etc exist purely to serve people on low incomes and/or folk with bad credit and do serve their purpose (at great cost) I agree. But as long as these stores continue to add their hidden extra's, ppi's, bogus charges etc those of us on low incomes, who fell for the well targeted advertising campaigns, are going to find our tight budgets positively strangled.

If this thread was meant as a joke, I apologise for my mini rant but feel better for getting it off my chest! Haha xo

hi, i am pleased to know that Brighthouse have at least one satisfied customer.

However, I would question your post here and the motives behind your post. For example, this website deals with people who have various problems with retailers etc.

You join this website this month and so far you have made only one post. Your one and only post on this website says you are pleased with Brighthouse and that they have been great to you.

If your post here is not some public relations for Brighthouse, then, what is it exactly for?

It is clear that you signed up to this website (as so far you have only one post) with the intentions of making out Brighthouse are great!

I am unsure as to why your one and only post here contains no problems and contains only praise for Brighthouse. Also, I am unsure as to why you decide to join a consumer advice site without posting any problems and just posting what is in my opinion just a public relations post in favour of Brighthouse.

Had your post count contained other posts, eg, you posted problems elsewhere and just happened to comment on Brighthouse, then your post would be more believable. As it is, IMHO, your post is just a PR exercise for Brighthouse!

You say respect is a two way street, yes, it is. But, I do have experience concerning Brighthouse staff who have shown absolutely no respect for their customers.

I must say that the staff at Wallasey Brighthouse are professional and polite. I have spoken with the manager of that store several times on behalf of my friend and various problems. However, I have seen for myself that staff at other Brighthouse stores within the area show nothing other than contempt for their customers.

You say that people on low incomes dont have much choice except Brighthouse. Again, I would question if this is a PR exercise since there are many other Brighthouse type stores...

Maybe you can confirm if you started this thread as a joke? Or a PR exercise (in which case its obviously failed due to the imbalance of other threads here). If it is a genuine post, then can I ask why you have taken this stand to defend Brighthouse? It just seems strange why you have joined this site and your first (and so far one and only post) shows Brighthouse in complete opposite from that of the many many threads by other people concerning this retailer?

I suspect your post is either a joke, or a PR exercise! If however it is genuine, then I am pleased that you have had a good experience from this retailer.

Me too! Especially anyone I really don't like..... For the odd one or two 'customers' who claim they have no problems with this outfit, there are thousands of others who will disagree and be only too pleased to divulge the real facts about this firm.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Hi everyone.

My first post as i only joined today.

Due to a relationship breakdown,

i find myself with a small child and no cooker or fridge.

So Brighthouse seemed to be the perfect solution for me,

but i decided to research them a bit as i had heard a few horror stories.

Thank God i landed here.

All these 100`s/1000`s of upset and angry customers cannot all be lying about BH and the allegedly dirty tactics they use.

One thing totally convinced me to avoid them like the plague and it was Scottymo52 `s post.

I have never read such a big bunch of self serving claptrap.

If BH employee `s are underhand enough to resort to posting this kind of drivel on a public website then they will never get my custom.

How can you trust that level of deviousness.

! Il go without the items thank you

Hi, thank you for the welcome. I have not but i will look. Way i just figured it was to put the money aside id have to pay BH and il have enough to buy the items outright in a couple of months, im sure i can manage till then.

Also im here to research how to claim back PPI, i know it was definitely miss sold. The knowledge on the forum is incredible. You guys do a great job.
