i asked the man in charge if the building was asbestos free ,and he replied yes its the adjoining building with the asbestos. and there were signs on the door reading asbestos beware.and i saw no signs of asbestos. but to me it was a shambles as no work ware were provided, only gloves. well only 2 days left.
do u know what happens when you finish the work activity?

I have heard some horror stories of what happens when you go back to the JCP but I think these are propaganda by in training to get people to take a job. I believe you can though be mandated to daily signing or daily visits to the JCP to look for work .

Frankly I am not so sure that labour will get in and if they do does anyone think they are really any different? They all want the DM vote and being hard on the "dole ****" is a good way to appease that paper , that and getting the foreigners out , especially the foreign dole ****..double whammy

Any opinion I give is from personal experience .

They wont let you just sit around doing nothing but in my area when labour were in power i was at school an then had a job but my sister who was a single parent when her daughter was 14 or 15 she got put with the jobcentre and they sent her to do voluntary work but at places with real work where u can work towards a recognisd qualification she did Nvq's in Gardening with The Council working along side the local parks and gardens staff then while she was waiting to do the 2nd Nvq she still couldnt find work so she went to do her food hygiene certificate while she was waiting for places to fill up so they have group to do Nvq3 in horticulture then got a job after that working as a supervisor in the garden department of a Focus Store

  • 4 months later...

update on this is, after the 2 year work progamme call it what you may you return back to the jobcentre for 1 whole year where the system is supposed to be more intense. bad news is after the 1 year back with jobcentre if you are still unemployed you go right back to your work provider where they put you on a 6 month placement doing 30 hrs work plus 4 hours jobsearch per week. I know this to be fact as its happened to my mate only this week. the 6 month placement back with your work provider only started last week as my mate was the 12th person in our town to be returned to sarina russo and he is 61 years old. my mate was also working as a volunteer with the salvation army which jcp didn't want to know about as they told my mate to many people were jumping on the volunteer bandwagon trying to avoid being directed by work programmers and jcp. my mates advisor told him the real reason was job agencies were losing out when folks volunteered instead of being directed by them. look into it how you like folks but that's the steps jcp are now taking so volunteering off your own back wont be accepted anymore by the looks of things.

The scheme that you are referring to here sounds like the Community Work Placements Scheme (CWP). It was supposed to have gone live in April 2014 but the implementation was delayed.

CWP is targeted at claimants who have 'little work experience or are lacking motivation'. The placement is meant to give the claimant experience similar to that which the 4 week Mandatory Work Activity schemes (MWA) was supposed to offer but for a longer period. The rules of engagement, apart from the length of time (6 months) that a claimant is on it, are very similar.

From what you say your mate seems to have been rail-roaded onto this scheme without the proper procedures being followed and a degree of 'flannel' by the adviser.

The comment by the adviser as to the real reason for placing your mate on CWP makes a mockery of the officially stated objectives of the scheme. That comment alone, in my view, leaves adviser and/or the Job Centre wide open to legal challenge.

Another point that I would challenge is the veracity of the comment that a claimant can be returned to the Work Programme Provider. The Post Work Programme Guidance categorically rules this out.

For your mate's information, or anyone else's, the DWP's 'Community Work Placements Guidance' can be read and down-loaded from this link:

https://www.gov.uk/government/public...vider-guidance

Before going any further I would insist on seeing a copy of any new Guidance, effective from last week, that advisers claim to be following.

PS:

I have been off the Work Programme for about one and a half years now and I haven't been pressed to participate in this scheme yet, far less after one year.

It is quite likely that the same provider is running both the Work Programme and the CWP in this region.

No... you can't eat my brain just yet. I need it a little while longer.

Same here. They're basically saying 'we can't think of anything else to do with you' so just sign on fortnightly. I hope by now they class me as one of the ones who always does what's required - subject to the guidelines, naturally - and will continue to leave me mostly alone... please :)

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that

JCP doesn't seem to allow for individuality, you'll be exoexted to leap to obey every stupid command

my mate is 61 and did his first year with jcp then 2 years with sarina russo then another year back with jcp now on 6 month placement run by his 2 year back to work provider sarina russo. I will see him tomorrow so will find out where his 6 month placement will be. as I pointed out he has been volunteering with the salvation army now for about 6 months but his jcp advisor stated they are no longer accepting this and he will be sent on a 6 month placement organised by sarina russo. I think as others have mentioned I don't think jcp have a clue what to do with long term unemployed but if we listen to government unemployment is a thing of the past lol
