Hi Thank you for replying to my post,

It all started when I lost my job and i started to fall behind with our monthly commitment direct debit with BT,

at first when the DD started to bounce I would phone up and make a payment of say £100 off what we owed them

we had a telephone

BT vision

options 2 etc with internet,

which when I had a job wasn't a problem.

I did explain that I had lost my job and that i was trying to keep all the balls up in the air

this seemed to be ok for a about 6 months

then it got to the stage were I was late by 2 days with paying my agreed amount over the phone when they completely cut me off

I didn't mind loosing the phone when it was incoming only

but to loose that and access to the Internet which I relied on for job searches and communication with agency's.

I tried in vane to get them to reconnect me but the only way they could do that would be if I paid the full amount owed which stands at £549.11.

I had no chance of doing that .

So I applied to new supplier and opened a new account with them

I did this because I really needed the internet to look for anew job.

I was really up set and annoyed with them as I had been making an effort to pay them back and they just dropped me l

I complained to there complaints department they looked into it but said there was nothing they could do.

I had to pay up before a re connection.

a company called Past Due are now dealing with it.

past due are not Bailiffs

they are a dca with no such legal powers.

what PENALTY charges are involved in this balance from the bills?

PDC cannot add any charges unless they OWN the debt

are they the owner on the CRA file then?

Dx sorry not sure,

I did find a letter from a company called Collect direct saying that they had been instructed by there clients BT Group PLC to collect a debt and added a fee of 25% to the principle debt.

this is the £109.82.

Are they connected to Past Due?

You could try that. But the problem you might have is BT saying "we dont own it anymore, DC have bought it off us" however that's a load of rubbish.

I went all the way to court to seek compensation for "damage to creditworthiness" against HSBC. I lost unfortunately.

I personally suggest talking to a manager. From experience managers tend to go the extra mile whereas frontline staff (as I call them) just give up and are not really bothered.

I dont see why BT have had this negligent issue of payments. If a customer is facing hardship and they are willing to pay back something each month then they should accept that.

A mate of mine accumulated a £3000 bill in the days of dial up internet in the 90's. BT said he has to pay the full whack, he said I cant afford it and can pay £20/£50 a month or whatever he can. Which they finally accepted.

Bearing that mind, in those days (1990s) BT and other telecommunication companies used to have local offices whereby you could go in, face to face is a lot easier and more can be done than over the telephone. Since people are "hiding" this is where companies and their employees have become bullies!

that dca is a very lowlife one

there is a reason why it was sold

sar BT and find it .

something smells here.

  • 6 months later...

Hi

I have looked at the web site Checkmyfile on line and it reports that Equifax are reporting a telecommunications account against my name

it has been defaulted but says that the account is closed it mentions the amount,

but who owns the account is not known,

also account status is not available,

account holder is not available

Equifax have a default recorded against my name until 2018, and they do not know who I owe it to

or why and it say's the account is closed surly this has to be wrong with out the correct info.

I guess a DCA has it and it used to be a BT bill, that I was disputing but it does not give that info out

I think a company called PastDue or collect direct have handled it in the past.

I have not had any recent communication from any one

If any one can advise best way forward that would be great

Thank you

Hi DX100UK

Thank you for answering my question

It all started to go wrong in April of 2012

I was still unemployed and trying to jugle the untility balls in the air

unfortunately the BT one kept dropping

I did my best and beg the Guys in India to keep me connected not so much the phone line But for the internet as we live in the country side

and needed that more for the children and for me to keep in touch with agents etc

I kept setting up direct debits and they kept on failing

on the last occasion my pre payments where at £125.00 and this is when the last problem I had with them started.

I tried to change the amount to be paid by standing order by the automated phone system

I changed the amount to £80 unfortunately they didnt get it in time and so they tried to take the original amount which bounced

they cut me off again so had to go through the motions again with India

I offered they said I had to pay the full amount to get it back on which Ii couldnt so

I offered £160.00 which was in my mind the equivalant of two months at £80.00

This was unfortunately not enough for the billing department in India

I was told that I was now out of contract and

the only way I could get the Internet back was to pay a further £160 by the 4th of April and then a £100.00 pounds by direct debit

as I am on th JSA I was unable to meet their dead line and pay them a £100.00

instead making a total of £260.00 in the space of two weeks making me fall behind on Gas and Electric

I was going to go ahead and set up a Direct debit I did keep on telling them that I was on the JSA in the end they just cut me off

and terminated my contract and left me with nothing

I kept on pleading with them to no avail.

In the end I managed to ge a line with Talk Talk

The bill was high because I had all the other stuff on there like broad band and BT vision which I could cancel at the time

other wise I would have to pay the out standing amount on the contract.

I am still in and out of the JSA system

I would like to my be make them a full and final offer I just need to get the Default off

Thank you

urm...

cant cancel bt vision my foot without paying the whole bill

heard that one before.

you need to get ahold of the Cardiff lot and find out why they would not help you

by reducing your out going.

if you were out in the countryside I bet you had not very good speed

and were paying option 3?
