Hi

I'm doing some research on this topic and was wondering if there was definitive list of retailers who had signed up to this scheme?

Additionally does anyone have any examples of the types of letters that are sent that they could scan up?

Any help would be much appreciated

Thank you

Just read some of the threads here. There are numerous examples of RLP's letters within threads; you will also see that the same retailer's names appear.

You will find a list of threads concerning RLP in the link above. There will be letters already scanned into the threads.

It's worth mentioning that there's no such thing as 'The Civil Recovery Scheme', although some retailers do occasionally have little signs saying 'we participate in a civil recovery scheme. This is just another of the fictions employed by companies like RLP and the distinctly downmarket solicitors that are involved, to try to legitimise their activities. I suppose they think it sounds better than 'we participate in a speculative invoicing scheme'.

You will probably also want to research the Law Commission report which considered the legal basis for civil recovery claims to be dubious.

Don't forget the DCAs, such as JB Debt Recovery, who try to collect debts that don't exist.

I am quite surprised that we haven't seen more law firms getting in on the act, especially given RLP's distinctly amateur approach. I hear that some solicitors have even employed people from the DCA industry, surely a sign that there is a barrel somewhere they think they can scrape the bottom of.

The Oxford Judgment is also in the list of threads I posted up earlier. Now that is worth a read :)
