Email from Mackenzie Hall

I have opened my email this morning (a Sunday) to find the following waiting for me. (I've hidden anything in this which identifies me).

I have never had any dealings with Mackenzie Hall, and until I ran this through Google I wasn't aware that they are a debt collection agency. I presume the best response is to simply ignore it and wait until they approach me in some other way?

Hi, my advice is to ignore this it is a phishing exercise, be prepared to get mail on the same theme, wait until they actually state what the are chasing.

 

Prepare yourself by checking your credit reference files for any activity on there.

It might be worth consigning their email address to your Junk / spam filters.

My credit rating is rubbish. The Child Support Agency has seen to that, I've been destitute for years.

 

Thanks for your reply; I'll ignore them. I do object to having emails sent from debt collection agencies on Sunday mornings. Call me old-fashioned, but I consider Sundays to be off-limits for money-lenders.

I believe that they set up ''bulk comms e-mail/snail mail/texts that then are transmitted/posted overninght.

This email is a private email, companies soliciting information from this email address are automatically forwarded to the relevant agencies dealing with this, in your case the OFT.

 

I am not going to call you and will not be pleased to contact you again in any way, shape or form.

The email address given begins with 'auto'. My experience of 'auto' email addresses is that anything sent to them results in an 'undeliverable' or similar error message being returned.

Send them a reply, with an attachment, titled. Care !!!! Virus detected. They won't open it, but they will have their IT bods scratching their heads for awhile, putting it through anti-virus software.

 

Then consign to your Spam folder.

If you go to their website there will be a few emails, send it to them!

 

I also would register a complaint about their form of ambiguous contact, okay it does not specify that they are chasing debt nor give any other information out - and that is the key - according to the OFT communicating in an unclear manner could be an offence.

I think on balance, it is best not to reply at all. To do so would confirm to them that I have received their email, and therefore the email address they hold for me is correct.

Go to OFT website, please be aware that The OFT cannot reply to individual complaint, they are filed for review when licences are renewed or applied for.
