Having posted the letter found in the library (very helpful), posted through the banks letter box (my branch not open at 6am), within a couple of days I had a phone call from the branch, the assistant manager wants to see us, said they have a special unit within the bank who can help us to sort the account out.

What is this ‘Special Unit’ and what can they do?

I’m all for just suing the bank, worked out in just over 2½ years they have had just over £4,000 out of me, still working out what 6 years is worth.

Can anybody help me please?

Well I'd like to know about this special unit as well.

 

I wonder whther they want to know who you got the letter from etc and are going to do a deal in return for the information. Myabe I am jsit being over-suspicious.

 

After all, If you were paying me £4000 in penalties every 2 years, I wouldn't want to lose you either.

 

I'd suggest that you go to the meeting but don't agree anything there. take lots of notes including names - get business cards etc and then say that you will think about whatever they suggest. Then let us know what they are up to.

 

Don't forget that it is entirely reasonable to require time to reflect on any proposal that they might make.
