Hypothetical question here.

 

If you took out loans/credit cards in England and had defaults registered 5 years ago so they are all a year away from being stat barred in England. What would happen if you moved to Scotland where it's only 5 years. Would the Scottish law apply or the English one?

No, if you look at the terms & conditions the agreements would be covered by English law as you lived in England when you entered into the agreement.
