Hi everyone,

I have been helping my son with Brighthouse and now have a new problem.

He brought a mobile phone in June with all the bloody extras.

After this I wrote a letter for him cancelling all the add ons.

Now his phone has gone wrong and because he has no extra warranty they are saying they won't repair this, surely this is wrong as it has a manufacture warranty.

Thanks in advance

JJ

Was it a new phone? He would be protected by SOGA

Yes it was.

Just checked on the Blackberry web-site and it states on there a 1 year warranty, so as usual Brighthouse are talking rubbish.

I think I will have to go in with him and have a word!.

Thanks again

The SOGA rights which you enjoy are regardless of the manufacturer's one year warranty.

SOGA says that you are allowed to have the use of the phone in satisfactory quality for a reasonable period of time.

A new phone should last at least a couple of years, I imagine before any kind of problem starts to occur. Even longer than that.

I suggest that you buy yourself a little recorder and record the discussion which you have with Brighthouse. We'll be pleased to carry it here.

Add one of these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Olympus-Telephone-Pickup-Hands-Free-Cable/dp/B000BTC8C8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1358538789&sr=8-6 - and you have an ideal phone recorder as well.

Assuming of course that the fault is down to breakdown and not mis use, neglect or accidental damage. What's the fault with the phone? Unless its obviously one of the three I just mentioned, they need to at least inspect it to find the cause of the fault.

Also doesn't soga state after 6 months its down to the customer to prove the fault? Might be you need to get an independent repair shop to look at it and give you report, if they still refuse to look at it. You can then claim the cost of a repair and the report back from bright house. Was it a new phone or pre owned?
