Basically a few weeks ago I received a letter to my home address which was addressed to my parents. At the time I didn't realise and opened the letter which was from Robinson Way. I realised my mistake once I opened the letter and returned to sender as not at this address (probably the biggest mistake)

I contacted my parents and they told me to just ignore it.

Since then the frequency of the letters is increasing and I've received a further 3 letters in as many weeks even though I keep returning them.

How the hell they got my address Ive no idea but my parents are most certainly not living here!

The only thing I can assume is because 5 years or so ago I was obviously listed on the electoral roll at my parents address, but now Im registered here, but what I fail to get is that my parents are registered at their own house 40 miles away.

Ive let my parents know, they dont seem particularly concerned but its beginning to stress me out and Im concerned that Im going to end up with bailiffs turning up.

The only way out of it that I can see is to give Robinson Way my parents address, which Id rather not obviously have to do.

Does anyone have any advice on dealing with it so Im not being pursued for this.

You wont get bailiffs turning up.

There has to be a claim issued and a judgment awarded in the claimant's favour and then the judgment debt not paid for there to be any hint of bailiffs.

If you receive another one - write / type a note and put the unopened letter and your note into another envelope to the Head office/Registered office of Robinson Way. You can google that or ask on any of the Robinson Way threads for the address.

Explain that you opened the original letter in error - you expect mail delivered to your home to actually be for you. That you have been returning these letters since, unopened and you are becoming rather annoyed at their frequency - any future letters received by you for someone that you are not will start to be forwarded to the OFT.

They can't send bailiffs without a court order.

You are under no legal obligation to inform them of your parent's address & they have no right to harass you. It may be best to send them a strongly worded letter that the persons they are looking for do not & have never resided at your property & unless they desist in sending communications you will complain to the OFT & your local Trading Standards.

A lot of Robinson Way debts tend to be statute barred too.....but watch out for anything that looks like a court claim coming through as they do attempt to get judgment on statute barred debts. If it does come through then have a look here - http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?162456-Help-with-statute-barred-debt-county-court-claim-form

Right so let me get this straight, post for your parents is turning up at your address??? Have you considered that they have given out your address??

It seems mightely strange that you have your own address but a letter comes from a DCA for your parents to your address and they don't seem bothered either? Are they running away from their own problems and passing the buck onto you?

They do this in the hope that it embarasses the debtor and they will pay up - I know another DCA who used to do the same thing and refused to say how they came to believe the debtor lived at their son's address. They were reported to Trading Standards who soon stopped them doing it - they issued an apology with some lame excuse of blaming their tracing methods - utter nonsense, they know exactly what they are doing!
