Hi,

I have had a bad credit history through no fault of my own, however I have been running a business and using barclays for a few years now as a business account and not got into any trouble.

Does anyone know if barclays will issue me with a credit card?

Many thanks!

It is very difficult bto forecast what any lender will decide, if your credit file is bad,a few defaults, late. missed payments,

almost certainly a ''new lender'' will decline, but as a long term customer you will be largely relying on the banks own unique inhouse rating system,of which we have no knowledge so the only way is to ask.

Hi Heaton and welcome to CAG

Sadly, the days when you could benefit from a good relationship built with well-known local banking staff are long gone. But if you've been running your a/c with no problems for a while, the bank may look more favourably on any application.

Generally speaking, if your credit rating is poor, you're unlikely to get a normal credit card.

You may get one from from a card issuer that specialises in folk with poor credit ratings. However, you're likely to have a higher APR for the card - typically anything from 29.9% to a whopping 59.9%.

You may benefit from checking your CRA file if you've not done so recently for £2 by post. Or you can do it free online but make sure you cancel the DD mandate that you have to set up.

We could do with some help from you
