Hi.

sometimes in 2012 I bought laptop on finance from Comet,

I`m pretty sure finance was from Santander but not 100% sure.

Finance was interest free for 9 months, this period will run out sometimes February/March after that I will have to pay it off in 36 months which will cost me about £350 more.

Finance was for £600, I paid deposit £60, so outstanding balance is £540,

I would like to pay off another let say £530 so the interest will be only on outstanding £10.

Will that work as I think it will?

I did receive one letter from them with account number, long number like credit card number.

But I can`t find this letter now.

so how do I find out where should I make the payment to avoid interest on it?

Thanks

AFAIK

on those comet deals

you must pay off the whole balance before the end of the int free period

else you are liable for ALL the int quoted on the deal.

it used to be HFC

not sure now

Finance is from Santander, and if I settle in full on or before that date they will charge me £25 on top of the laptop price.

I`m looking for the way to avoid paying that fee.

In early repayment section of my contract it says:

`You can settle your account in full or in part at any time.

if you repay the amount you own us in full or in part, we may, in accordance with consumer credit regulation 2004,

charge you an amount equivalent to 30 days interest,

calculated on the balance outstanding at the settlement date and will calculate a rebate of interest.`

so how do we go about this,

can I settle in part,

like 99% of the loan and leave 1% and pay it off month later

and avoid that way £25 fee?

and pay only interests on 1% left for that month?

as i said.

i think you willfind that if you don't pay the WHOLE of the balance by the end of the int free period

ALL of the interest [on the ful amount borrowed' [regardless of what has been paid already] becomes due.

phone them and ask
