Wonga entries on Credit File (complaint)

Hi contacted Wonga about 7 months ago with a query regarding the "25" entries it has placed on my Credit File with Experian. I was promised these would be removed. They still haven't. I have just e-mailed this across to them. What are my chances of this being actioned?

I write to you in relation to a telephone call I made to one of your team around 7 months ago. My call was in relation to me having 25 entries on my credit report (experian) for Wonga loans.

 

I am still trying to get a mortgage and they are saying that these entries are stopping me as it appears I can't manage with the incom I have during the month. This is not the case!

 

I only took these loans out to attempt to build a good credit history of paying back on time. Your website used to clealy advertise this fact that paying off a Wonga loan could help your credit file, but it appears they actually make you look desperate by taking out a payday advance loan.

 

The gentleman I spoke to spoke to the manager who agreed to take these entries off my credit file as they are affecting me in this way but I am still waiting, after 7 months.

 

I trust that this phone call was recorded and will back up everything I have said.

 

I also trust that someone will contact me back regarding this and also these entries will be removed as promised. If this is not rectified then I will need to take this higher as I believe you are responsible for a) false advertising (there was a newspaper article not long ago about Wonga apologising for advertising this very fact) and b) poor customer service by not following up what you told me you was going to do 7 months ago.

I think this is another lesson about payday loans. It has been known for sometime that they can have an adverse effect on your credit rating

Whilst my credit report was far from squeeky clean at one point, Wonga made it out that taking one of their loans out would improve credit score. Completely the opposite in fact.

 

They have placed 25 entries on my credit file because when I paid one off I would take another out (not realising they would add a new entry every time). I presumed they would just keep the same entry on my file and keep adding payment history to it!

I know what they are like. It might be worth making a complaint to the FOS. but i doubt they will do much.

I will let them explain to me why it has taken 7 months and still no action has been taken first, I can't wait to hear their excuses. Tin pot company who pray on the vulnerable to make a killing.

 

FOS is a good idea. Just been doing some research and there are articles all over the net about mortgage lenders rejecting anyone with pay day loans on their files etc. Makes me wonder, why wonga report to experian but not any other CRA?

These Pay day loans have a lot to Answer For! I am quite surprised that your morgage application people where able to tell you exactly what on your credit file is preventing a succefull application, but its good to know, as thats why I am trying to clean up my credit file, to apply for a mortgage ( I cirtainly won"t be applying for a payday loan to improve credit rating.....thats for sure! LOL ) I am sticking to credit cards to build up a good score, but its good to know what works, and what does"nt.

Wonga also report to callcredit ( Noddle ) But it comes up as Quickbridge not Wonga, as Quickbridge own Wonga i think!

Complaints are better made to The Financial Conduct Authority, who are taking an interest here and can be pro-active in dealing with complaints unlike the OFT which cannot act/reply to individual complaints!
