Hi,

I took out a speed credit loan for £300.00 on the 5.11.12.

On the 15th of December i Paid £72, by bank transfer as their website was not working.

On the 24th December i paid £532 pound over the phone.

The issue i have is that when i did the bank transfer i put down the wrong reference, i used their bank sort code instead of their reference.

Today i received a letter from their bailiff company saying i owe them £432 pounds.

Does anyone have any suggestions, as i have paid off this debt back on the 24th of December

Hi

Write to the bailiff company and inform them of the date of payments and the amount and inform them the debt has been settled in full, also write to Speed Credit informing them the same. You could also quite the Office of Fair Trading rules and regulations 3.6.f. not ensuring that accurate , up-to-date and sufficient data is passed on as appropriate resulting in: a person being pursued for a debt which does not exist.

Which Bailiff company ? Unless a judgment has been made against you, which you have then failed to pay - a Bailiff should not be involved.

IMHO, you should be contacting the OFT to complain about the way you are being misled .. that a DCA is claiming to be a Bailiff ?

Hi

I agree with dx100uk

if they are not bailiffs then do not pay them anything,

sorry I wrongly assumed you had received a CCJ and that was why a bailiff company was involved.

If their correspondence is misleading it does need to be reported to the OFT,

I have reported a company regarding this before and the OFT have acted on the information.

Unless a Bailiff can prove he is an actual Bailiff and has been sent about a specific debt by the Court then even if they would show up you could tell them to leave, if they refuse call the police, threatening man dressed in black in your property and you are scared to death. Trespassing charges will just be the beginning, however there is no evidence to suggest anyone ever received a visit about a loan from these muppets.

So don't worry about it and just pay off what you can when you can up to the amount actually owed which is very likely to be much much lower than what they demand (although they usually don't know what they demand as you can easily receive multiple emails from them the same day demanding different amounts).
